denizen art and stuff
I figured we could have a thread here to showcase various drawings and art that folks have made.
I got a free scanner that works alright a while ago and today on a whim I decided that I'd start scanning various things I have drawn once upon a time.
If this catches on and it has a cumbersome page count or other member galleries get a bit large or in their own threads then I reckon I can edit this first post to make a link directory to folks who put stuff up. =-D

Here's some Rifts drawings circa 1997-ish where I decided to draw my Mary-Sue NPC from the game that I ran. I'm not proud of my GMing back then, but at least some art spawned from it. I cannot recall if the starter for these drawings was a tracing or nay. 13 years is a bit long to remember such things, I'm pretty sure these 3 are originals though.

More to come later this weekend me hopes.

Here are some of my wife's drawings (she is a much better artist than me).

[Edit] Art runs in her family. Here's her brother's deviant art account: http://deceptisquirrel.deviantart.com/ [/Edit]

Okay, here's something I sketched up for my girlfriend.

Most of my SFW stuff is specifically for her, so won't be shared. Our relationship is odd like that - she encourages me to have as much sex as I can with others, but I couldn't watch the Ninja Turtles movie with anyone else.
My character's mecha for a Mekton game (mecha creation is seriously fucking annoying for that):

This is NSFW and illegal in Dark Eldar society (title: Civil Discussions):

Ensure your dice roll well:

Anything else I post, a little later, will just be in link form due to not being worksafe.

You bastards, having a showy talent.
I can't dance, can't sing, can't draw...
All I can do is write, and even then I can can't turn on when something is just -right.-

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

well, my avatar is a crop from one of my drawings, this is the full:
Thri Kreen Character I want to play at some point:
Nezumi Samurai, plus photoshop colouring and finish.
Random Ratling/Slitheren (rat people race from Swords and Sorcery), again, plus photoshop colouring
anthro-frog chaos mage, and yes, photoshop colouring

That nezumi samurai is pretty good. It looks like one of those old japanese samurai drawings with the 'simulated wind' to bring action into the frame. Reminds me slightly of that rat in Fantastic Mr Fox (the movie, not the book). Who was a great character.
For years I thought it was impossible for me to draw, but an art teacher in a mandatory unit taught me that that was bullshit and it was a matter of practice. And, impossibly, he seems correct.
The point at which I allow anyone to see anything I draw, however, will be the point at which I am both dead and my corpse has been ripped into small enough pieces that it can no longer stand up.

Thank you, and yes, it does take lots of practice. I've been drawing most of my life, and I still sometimes think my stuff sucks....Rejakor wrote:That nezumi samurai is pretty good. Everybody I know who is any good at an art has done it obsessively. The really good ones also constantly push themselves to try new techniques. The ones that don't push themselves stay good, but boring.Rejakor wrote:For years I thought it was impossible for me to draw, but an art teacher in a mandatory unit taught me that that was bullshit and it was a matter of practice. It's no different from mastering anything, whether it be a sport or a science (or an art). Some people have innate handicaps, but those can almost always be worked around. Colorblindness is only a minor obstacle to painting.

Pretty much. A lot of my friends are professional artists, particularly 2-d media (painting, graphic design, illustration/comics, etc) and they all practiced obsessively, most of them starting to really learn to draw when they were ten or so. I love to draw but it's not my biggest passion and I've never had the time to become anything more than a pretty good amateur illustrator. I'm pretty masterful when it comes to metalwork however.CatharzGodfoot wrote:Everybody I know who is any good at an art has done it obsessively.
