Of course you didn't take the different staircase. This staircase calls atheists people who don't go to church. Publicly declaring that you don't believe in virgin birth and doubt validity of Bible as a literal description of the events merely puts you into the modernism camp whom this comic was satirizing.

That comic was neither funny nor thought-provoking, and its views were absurd. So it fails utterly as social commentary.

Does anyone have something better to turn our eyes to?

Hm. I'm something like 50/50 on whether you understood the comic or not. It's a gag about reimagining seasonal marketing creep as a war of aggression, and how that lets you be irreverent with a hyperbolic talking point. Not exactly thought-provoking, funny is always in the realm of YMMV, but absurd? If anything, it's just kind of... boringly obvious; "the Christmas shopping season is slowly devouring Thanksgiving." Really? You don't say?

There's a Midas station near my work that has put "Please run for president" on their signboard.

There's something sublimely perfect about the glare obliterating Trumps mouth. It makes it look like he's choking on a potato-dildo made of light.

No! It's Eric, the half a bee

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.
