So, Anime You Like Lately

To be fair, they're only one episode in. But yeah, it doesn't look like it's going to be as high-octane silly.
Also, holy fucking shit. The wedding dress episode of Sailor Moon actually shows what year it is (1992). This anime is old enough to get married. Or indeed, to drink, even in America.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

Mahou Sensou reminded me of the Notnia thread, Hozuki no Reitetsu reminded me of Disgaea. Out of the two, Hozuki is probably better.

To be fair, nothing stopped them from using a clip of a baby that was 10 years old as the baby. It isn't like they needed a specific thing, just a generic baby noise.
Of course, for the same reason the person who played the baby sun could in fact have died from old age before Teletubies ever aired, so not exactly a reason to feel old.

Evangelion 3.33 You Can (Not) Advance.
It's basically impossible to discuss anything about it without massive spoilers for the previous movies.

So after Unit-01 got stabbed in an unsuccessful attempt to avert Third Impact, Shinji was fused into it and/or comatose for fourteen years, during which Misato formed a rebel splinter group to oppose Gendo and turned Unit-01 into the power core for a flying death fortress. However, the fight against NERV is going surprisingly poorly considering it appears to be seriously four people, one of whom is like seventy. Somehow, Gendo, Rei, Oldman Man, and Shinji's Albino Boyfriend have managed to get up to Eva Unit-13 and found the time to develop automated war machines based off Angels.
Story opens with Asuka and Mari in Unit-02 and Unit-08 recovering Unit-01 and Shinji from one of the Angel war machines in orbit, and they put a great deal of effort into extracting and reviving Shinji so they can make him feel bad. Seriously, that seems to be the reason. His only useful skill is piloting Evas and they put a bomb collar on him that will trigger if he does that. So, for some reason, when Rei shows up, rips her way into the death fortress in her Eva, and asks him to come with her Shinji agrees.

Been watching Strike the Blood and Log Horizon.
Strike the Blood is an action/harem comedy in a high-tech fantasy setting on an island where humans and various supernatural critters live together. The main character is a random high-school student who somehow got turned into a progenitor vampire by the previous Fourth Progenitor. This comes with twelve hugely badass spirit monsters called familars. Unfortunately, they only listen to him if he drinks the blood of a girl he likes, hence the harem. It is broken up into arcs of four or so episodes each as various supernatural nasties attack the island.
Log Horizon is a "trapped in an MMO setting" thing that isn't a ripoff of Sword Art Online because the novel series started at the same time. Also, evidence suggests that they're actually in the setting instead of in VR. Once people realize they're stuck things kinda go to hell. Our Hero is a debuff specialist and strategist who works to assemble a functional player character government and establish diplomatic relations with the locals. The world is a strange blend of actual physics and MMO mechanics and people exploit the hell out of the stupid interactions. The combat system is kinda stupidly overcomplicated with like twelve very distinct classes. I'll probably put up a rambling lengthy post about it.

You should gain sanity for finding out that the problems of a region are because there are fucking monsters there.
Well, for this particular one, we actually get lengthy exposition on key points of the mechanics, so it might be helpful or at least interesting.

I just finished watching Accel World and was initially annoyed at the number of plot points introduced without resolution, especially thing introduced in the last two episodes. Then I looked it up on Wikipedia and noticed the anime only covers the first three of the nine light novels released before the anime aired. That's the downside of basing anime on long-running things that don't have individual arcs long enough to base a series on.
Other than that, it was a pretty good series. It was interesting to see the male lead try to be a strong, protective boyfriend to a woman who really didn't need that much protecting. They complimented each other well.

I've been watching Gundam Build Fighters. Fantastic fight scenes, tons of references to older series but entirely watchable without watching them(I've only seen Wing and X). And subbed for free by the creators to put on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL ... FSLJL1r2XQ
Edit: Just be warned that it is essentially a toy commercial. Still crazy good, but the commercial aspect is there.
Other than that, Legend of the Galactic Heroes remains watchable for all time.
