What happened to Lago's avatars?
Because this is an important issue which deserves its own thread.
Lago_Paranoia had a Bowser avatar for a long time, then switched to Princess Peach. The avatar after that, an ugly hairy guy with sunglasses, was short-lived. After that, he has no avatar.
My question is, why the sudden change? I miss the Mario-themed avatars.
Also, in older threads I noticed a poster called Lago_3AMP. Is this the same Lago? If not, are the two somehow acquainted? If so, then can I have multiple accounts as well? I was thinking of making 10 different ones, each with their own distinctive theme and personality.

Well, I immediately grabbed the account named Barrel of Cocks when someone mentioned the idea, so... fill your boots?
Cuz apparently I gotta break this down for you dense motherfuckers- I'm trans feminine nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them.

Heh, I remember that.
Speaking of personalities, I was originally going to "speak" like my namesake, Shrapnel, Shrapnel. I would repeat every last word, like he does, does. Obviously, I never did this, this. It'd be silly now, since my avatar is no longer a picture of Shrapnel's toy, toy.
But I've often wondered what the world would be like if I had, had.

Is this wretched demi-bee
Half asleep upon my knee
Some freak from a menagerie?
No! It's Eric, the half a bee

I do, however, strongly suggest trolling other gaming forums with such a scheme, and distributing links to interested parties via pms. I vote Paizo first.

Didn't Psychic Robot and Roy/Sunic Flames/Mr. GC get in a lot of trouble at the Den for this exact series of shenanigans? Do you really think the Den needs any more negative publicity, which can then damage the image of Character Optimizers as a whole through this?Prak_Anima wrote:I do, however, strongly suggest trolling other gaming forums with such a scheme, and distributing links to interested parties via pms. PR got in trouble through the "Threads that make you laugh/cry/etc" threads. I would think that if it's more of a pm newsletter, there'd be less liability. Also, I just think it would be hilarious to mess with other forums by posting as ten different people, all talking to one another, but remaining completely on topic and fairly benign.

This would be a better alternative in comparison to the more mean-spirited trolling. However I believe that it's easy for mods to track IP addresses, so the jig would probably be up by the time a 3rd user signs up. And one would need to maintain 10 different e-mail addresses. And permabanning would be most likely punishment for discovery, so doing it on an interesting board would be a shame if one wanted to discuss things there.Prak_Anima wrote:PR got in trouble through the "Threads that make you laugh/cry/etc" threads. And fbmf probably wouldn't approve in the first place.

IP randomizers would help, but yeah, even if it's just messing with a board but staying on topic, it's questionably appropriate.

Can we go back to talking about Lago_Paranoia? He's always a fascinating subject to discuss.
Maybe we should make a petition for LAGO to put back up a Mario-themed avatar through peer pressure?
Aw hell, this thread is off-topic enough already. Go nuts with whatever.

If you trawl About the Gaming Den you'll find a post where he asks to have his name: http://tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=50405
I assume that his account name was changed, and that anywhere you see LAGO_3AMP, you're looking at a post which was imported from an old system.
I would recommend avoiding even the appearance of a "Threads" thread. They seem to annoy fbmf. Largely becasue they inevitably end with an invasion, and usually a stupid one. Q.v. GC after the TheRPGSite linkage and Darwinism after somethingawful.

One casting every six seconds at CL9 gives you a bit more than 40 liters per second, which is comparable to the flow rates of some small, but serious, rocket engines. Six items running at full blast through a well-engineered engine will put you, and something like 50 tons of cargo, into space. Alternatively, if you thrust sideways, you will briefly be a fireball screaming across the sky at mach 14 before you melt from atmospheric friction.
Thank you for the relevant information and word of caution. I'll keep this in mind in the future.fectin wrote:If you trawl About the Gaming Den you'll find a post where he asks to have his name: http://tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=50405

And the 4E one(s). And the Paizo ones. And even the Shadowrun one (although that one was more explaining the situation rather than linking to stupid threads. It still brought in several trolls).fectin wrote:I would recommend avoiding even the appearance of a "Threads" thread. They seem to annoy fbmf. 1.) The reason why I am named Lago PARANOIA is because I had the idea where I would regularly rename myself to allude to DDR songs. For example, I would be Daikenkai Lago or Lago AFRONOVA. There's a reason why my name used to be Lago AM3P.
But changing my name is hard. So it's PARANOIA unless I get really bored.
2.) If I get tired of Sexy Luigi I'll probably make my next avatar Beat Takeshi or Sunplaza Nakano or King Charles II.

Josh Kablack wrote:Your freedom to make rulings up on the fly is in direct conflict with my freedom to interact with an internally consistent narrative. Your freedom to run/play a game without needing to understand a complex rule system is in direct conflict with my freedom to play a character whose abilities and flaws function as I intended within that ruleset. Your freedom to add and change rules in the middle of the game is in direct conflict with my ability to understand that rules system before I decided whether or not to join your game.
In short, your entire post is dismissive of not merely my intelligence, but my agency. And I don't mean agency as a player within one of your games, I mean my agency as a person. You do not want me to be informed when I make the fundamental decisions of deciding whether to join your game or buying your rules system.

I find it awfully interesting that the thread referenced above contains a shadzar post with correct capitalization and punctuation.fectin wrote:If you trawl About the Gaming Den you'll find a post where he asks to have his name: http://tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=50405

Either he's getting senile, or he's trolling.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

PR did the same thing. In the last six months or so that he was here, he would only capitalize words he "cared about".Maxus wrote: Either he's getting senile, or he's trolling.
(I'm not saying he's PR, BTW)
