I have a linked in profile because it's occasionally useful for my job.
I've noticed that there's been a significant increase in the number of people endorsing each other. Does anyone know if it's a marketing campaign or something, or just a reflection on the state of the world economy and people are looking to get an edge?

Works fine for me.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

I did notice that when I was trying to watch youtube videos on my xbox, it kept having weird errors and booting me out. Downloading the youtube app again did nothing to fix it.

I mean, say I wanted to study economics in Uni, or claim I totally had done so for a year, what would it be called?

Would biologically determined eusociality (think bees as opposed to naked mole rats) fixed by evolution be an asset to long-term civilization or a hindrance?
On one hand, it would make the initial organization a lot easier. On the other hand, it would also ensure that biologically suboptimal caste members had a harder time adapting to the needs of society. On the third hand, technology could make this irrelevant anyway what with Stephen Hawking and all.
Your opinion?

In short, your entire post is dismissive of not merely my intelligence, but my agency. And I don't mean agency as a player within one of your games, I mean my agency as a person. Pertinent courses would probably include micro- and macroeconomics, public economics and probably monetary policy. His assertion on monopolies is demonstrably false, and the one regarding the role of the state is based on political philosophy, and not economic policy. The 'real capitalism' argument is a logical fallacy, just how exactly can you determine the end result of something you readily admit does not exist is beyond me and is probably akin to wishful thinking and ideological blindness. I would advise you not to waste your time.Koumei wrote:So for when someone's argument can't be made out due to Friedman's cock being in their mouth*, but they claim that arguing with anyone who hasn't had a class of economics is just a waste of their time, what would said classes be called? Try updating your Adobe Flashplayer. My husband and I both had that issue, i googled around and saw that there was a recent update. I updated mine, refreshed the pages, and voila- no more gibberish symbols. Hope it works for you too.Grek wrote:Is Youtube fucked up for everyone else right now, or is it just me? I have a quick question.
In a few weeks i'm going to be buying a car. I'm going to have to get a loan to buy it, because although scraping up a grand to buy a beater is within my reach immediately, I don't want to have a beater that I have to be fixing constantly.
How does one go about getting a loan for a car? Do you pick out the car first, or do you go to the bank to get pre-approved then pick it out?
The only thing I know is to not let the dealer finance it because you'll get ripped off, and you can pay extra for insurance that pays for your balance if you have to file for disability. The person co-signing for me told me this; I'm assuming he's implying that if I don't pay my bills he's breaking my legs so he doesn't have to worry about it... lol

There are so many variables that it is hard to say. Using the dealer's financing options is not always a ripoff. If you are buying a NEW car, for example, and you have good enough credit and income to qualify for their 0% financing, as long as you don't agree to buy a bunch of extras, you won't get ripped off. The key is to read the paperwork carefully, question everything, and make them remove stuff you don't want. You can get ripped off for the same stuff using outside financing. How does one go about getting a loan for a car? I have done bank financing where I go get my loan approved and then go find a car and I have done it through dealerships. It does make the negotiating process a little easier if you get it at your own bank, because they can't use your financing as a negotiating chip.
Is this your first car purchase from a dealership?
A good tip if this is your first car purchase from a dealer: Walk away the first day.
Do not get caught up in their patter or rhythm and rush things. You should feel comfortable walking away at any moment. If you feel pressured then you aren't going to be making your best decisions. On my last purchase I was up front at each dealership I went to that I was checking out the cars (we were making a decision between multiple different make/models), and would not be making the purchase today. Most places were cool, and the one place where the guy was the more skeevy type finally got the message that he wasn't getting a sale today and eased off the high-pressure tactics.

OK, Biology-Question again:
Why the hell can we drink vile stuff without problem, but as soon as we stop drinking it, the full awfullness of whatever we were chugging hits us like a baseball bat to the gut?

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

Re to the car advice:
My credit is the best its ever been in my life, but I don't know if I can call it "good" or not. I have substantial debts paid off, but I also have a lot of things on my record that hasn't dropped off yet. I know if you pay shit off it's not as bad as having a bunch of unsettled debts on your record, but it's clear I've been through some rough times. My income is better than ever but still nothing to write home about (although the person co-signing has much better credit).
I don't think I'm getting 0% interest anywhere...
I've bought an awful lot of shitty cars from people, and I don't want to do that again. I am tired of buying shitty cars and having to put a bunch of money in repairs at the beginning. I'm getting a hand up and some opportunities lately and I want to start my new life out correctly.
As far as models, I'm partial to Volvo but I don't think I'll be cleared for that much money. I'm looking for reliability and good gas mileage.

Many tastes (like and especially the sweet taste of sugars) overwhelm other tastes when they are in large amounts, but both fail to so when they are in small amounts and are removed from the mouth quickly. As long as you have a lot of crab juice Mountain Dew in your mouth, it'll pretty much just taste sour and sweet. When you swallow it, the more complicated flavors become apparent, which you may or may not like.Stahlseele wrote:OK, Biology-Question again:

Something like a Mazda3 (Mazda2 if you don't need the space), maybe Suzuki Swift or whatever they're called in the US. Try not to go back past about 2008 or so for economy reasons, 2010+ even better.I'm looking for reliability and good gas mileage
Mazda2: "The North American version became available in July 2010 for a starting price of $13,980 USD." Brilliant little things they are too, one of the few sub-compacts available over there.
Little Fords are all rebadged Mazdas with a couple new panels, hotter motors, and better suspension, good for running moonshine through tight city streets, but otherwise just money for status.
As others said, avoid all extras. Get a manual if you know how to drive them and run around in the longest gear you've got for extra efficiency. If you want to be safest, buy a white one, easier for stupid people to see you.
Oh, the Suzuki was turned into a mini-4WD when sold in the US, so fuck that noise.

Depends on where you live. White won't save your ass here, where a large portion of the weather is gray from low clouds and/or rain. Yellow's the color to put your money on. Or you could just turn on your headlights.tussock wrote:buy a white one, easier for stupid people to see you

White is the safest colour in all weather conditions except fog, where it's second to those super-annoying oranges that roadside workers wear. Yes, put your lights on in heavy weather anyway, or all the time if you like, but you're still easier to see in a white car. It's reflecting all the light it can, eh.
Yellow is failing to reflect blue light, which is a dumb thing to be doing on a cloudy day when there's not enough light in the first place.

Do not drive a black car (especially near dawn and dusk, nearly 50% more crashes). Do not drive a grey car. Don't drive red or blue cars either.
NB: Other studies in urban areas have found that highly unusual block colours can be even safer, like a bright pink or flouro green. This may be because only very gay people drive cars like that, but those colours are also strongly luminescent.

so . . basically . . don't drive a car in any colour you would want to actually have on your car . . correct?

I want a car that's bright pink. I will be painting three balloons on it above the rear wheels though.
And I don't know how to drive stick. I was taught on auto, and no one has bothered to teach me stick.
