Mario and Zelda both have puzzle bosses, at least in the newer versions. The thing is that doing an average of 46 damage on a hit at 29th level isn't some kind of magic replacement for inflicting status conditions or otherwise accomplishing things in the game. It's just something to get you in the d...

isn't shadowrun meant to be more of a rocket launcher tag or gritty and deadly situation than 4e's padded sumo setup? Orcus should definitely lose to 20 15th lvl characters, but they shouldn't make it to him, and many of themwill die. He should actually be at significant risk against a single level ...

Except that then the mech jockey doesn't have all the special tome powers of everybody else and is therefore underpowered. What would work nicely is to roll the coglayer and mech jockey together, with the concept in-mech being that he deeply understands the workings of his mech; he vents nasty hot s...

You see cold war Mexican standoff; I see endless adventure opportunities. I see both! I believe the setting was intentionally built to be able to start collapsing at any minute to facilitate heroic adventures. The fact that it collapses economically and politically from high level adventurers is an...

I wouldn't give a level bonus to damage, because that eliminates real status effects and situational damage modifiers - sneak attack, the Tome Knight, barbarians, etc. on the damage side and the save or suck mildly wizards, lock fighter builds, healing rider clerics, etc. A tome-style Knight would e...

You've skipped the mech pilot. The best thing to do with that might be to eliminate them entirely and let everyone pilot mechs or let noone pilot mechs. Having a specific mech class built in is a lot like having a diplomancer, only much harder to houserule away. -the mech pilot's entire set of class...

Makes the Prime a prime destination spot among Outsiders, then. But what about the City of Brass? There has to be a reason so many efreet hang out there! The City of Brass is a major planar metropolis. That's actually enough reason for anybody to hang out there if they can. Same basic logic as Sigi...

I think RC's point is that he doesn't understand how Infinity Vs Infinity would be any different from Infinity Vs Infinity+4 Pc's. I don't understand either. My point was that Infinity Vs Infinity - 4PCs, who would have been at the right place at the right time and stopped something very crappy fro...

There's an infinite army with which to conquer them, and the battlelines have moved back and forth across the three infinite planes in between. The reason that the blood war hasn't ended in some sort of deal (let's all beat up on Elysium) is that an infinite number of Good mortal heroes have interve...

In Planescape, you generally don't set out to be in the Blood War. You get drafted or you are working in the periphery doing things like keeping it in the lower planes and keeping it from ending in some sort of truce. The players should care because heaven being taken over by Asmodeus and Graz'zt re...
