Re: New Edition: Iconic Characters

I see what you did there.[br][br]Anyway, there should probably be at least one iconic of each color, and a Gadgeteer is a given.[br][br]Another issue is whether there are going to be PC races not playable from level 1. Guys with flight, big elemental resistances, or 'flavor-breakingly odd' (if you w...

Re: New Edition: Monsters

IMO very low levels should have the characters with very mundane abilities. Maybe you can animate a few zombies or shoot bolts of fire, but you can't fly, you aren't heavily resistant to any damage types (I'm assuming this system won't offer immunity), and you're pretty much stuck using mundane mean...

Re: New Edition: Monsters

The neat thing about puzzles is that given the time and resources, anyone can beat them regardless of level. The difficulty lies in doing it quickly.[br][br][br]A bit of water can make for a good low-level puzzle:[br][br]A broad, quickly flowing river.[br][br]A cave entrance half-filled with water, ...

Re: New Edition: Setting

1198322612[/unixtime]][br] So I noticed that you need to use all of the attribute combos to get 15 separate options (which fits exactly the 5 colors & 3 classes per color). Which will it be? We could do something contrived like having every color get 1 phys/phys, 1 mental/mental, and 1 physical...

Re: More "I'm a _____" feats

Heh, I've actually just been looking things over.[br][br]I like consistency, and I think that making them skill feats is a pretty good idea. At the same time, you might want to make the level 0 abilities include 'always considers X a class skill'. This does two things: it requires a small continuing...

Re: New Edition: Setting

I guess that's the problem with attribute-based systems. My bias is that I have trouble seeing physical attributes governing slavery magic.[br][br]Anyway, now that you've 'defined Black first', got a lineup for the other colors? I'm interested in whether it's going to follow the same pattern of figh...

Re: New Edition: Setting

Dealing with demons when there are monster wells is just a little odd. What is a demon at that point, anyway? What the fuck? How is that so much worse than elves currently are? I'll you grant that the aura is a bad idea, and the feat is pathetic, but other than that it seems fine. It's not perfect, but it's hardly worse than 3e.
