Actually, my complaint is that there is no mechanic to take in account the difficulty of the opposition. Reading a Sitch to discover that quantum ninjas are about to jump you is just as difficult or just as easy as Reading the Sitch to avoid being mugged by a fat, clumsy man wearing bells. As said ...

I played the demo of ME3. Well, I should say I watched the intro cutscene, then got control of my character and ... Dat running animation. Couldn't continue. Laughing too hard. ME1 was one of my most anticipated games ever, and I think I played through it like 13 times. But then ... ME2 was such a d...

Just finished The Witcher 2 today. And well, the combat was broken. A significant amount of the time (maybe 30%) I would try to use a sign (read: spell) and nothing would happen. Not because my character was busy doing something else, but because the game couldn't be fucked to respond to number keys...

As for NWN 2 (still haven't installed IWD2), it looks like the PRC for it is much smaller in scope, and also the main contributor threw a hissy fit and withdrew all his stuff from single player games because other people were stealing his stuff for Persistent Worlds. Yeah, that sure showed them? Th...

Honestly something has to the control decks honest, that means having threats that a resilient to at least some of the control decks answers. Even control decks are supposed to have bad machups, Most split second cards are actually control effects. Of the 15 cards with the keyword, there are 3 crea...

Um ... Priority takes longer than straight point buy, because you have to consider the products of multiple priority arrangements. Is it better to put metatype at B and attributes at C, or vice versa? Or should I put attributes at A and MoR at B? Answering those questions requires statting each comb...

Stasis doesn't force people to play a different game - it stops people from playing the game. (I used to run a casual stasis deck, which got super-duper silly once I jammed Jace, the Wallet Sculptor into it.) But yeah, alternate wincons are fun. My Niv-Mizzet EDH deck used to have Laboratory Maniac ...

I'm a combo/control player, so undying and persist struck me as bullshit. Unless you're going to give people a ton of exile effects, those two turn spell-based creature removal into a two-for-one. I know MaRo thinks people who play creatureless decks are having badwrongfun, but seriously. Speaking o...

Re: Imagine if Hexblades Didn't Suck
1. They have a Hex ability that scales with level. Maybe it's the 1/round Free Action Will Negates thing where using it doesn't cost you anything, or maybe it uses a real action but just works. Perhaps the "base" hex is the simple -2/-4/-6/-8 to "stuff" and then they gain a clas...

You could explicitly say that temp HP from multiple Vampiric Spells don't stack, but ... Healing's probably better. Temp HP is a wonky mechanic anyway. Vampiric Spell Hurting people with magic makes you feel better about yourself. Benefit: You heal damage equal to [half] the hit point damage dealt b...

You should be using your mana for something like Batman on turn three, not have to spend/hold it all to get value from your 2-drop. The pumpable creature is actually a much better deal for midrange/control decks that don't rely on a big board presence. That's why Ætherling shows up as a finisher. ED...
