Most D&D characters don't have a lot of backstory and most D&D
parties have even less. Your character isn't loyal to the group for in-character reasons, your character is loyal to the group because as a
player you've accepted the social contract to ignore all that shit and skip to the part where you go out and slay dragons and haul sacks of gold around. Betraying the party means you flat don't accept the social contract to sit around eating doritos and drinking mountain dew while telling stories about fighting monsters and getting phat loot. It's a party foul worse than anything else you could possibly do in a game of Dungeons and Dragons, because once you do it people can never just have their characters meet up in a bar with yours and run off to fight gnolls. That can never happen again because you've broken that agreement.

Fuck. Thank you. I needed that explicitly spelled out - I've been trying for a while now to figure out why the player who consistently refuses to accept the premise of whatever game is also the player whose character fucks us over and expects us to fuck her over. In retrospect it makes a lot of sense, but I needed that. Thanks.

Has the RPG group rumbled his arguably terrible plans?
Did he post about this in the League of Losers thread? 'Cause he's also blanked a post there. "Tome Game I Run", too.

I had that problem DMing in college.
Once the group ran PCs that didn't trust each other, they couldn't again run PCs that would trust each other. It became a weird oneupsmanship contest to see who could make the most mysterious badass loner at the table. We would frequently chew through over half the session just agreeing to
start the adventure.

I didn't have time to read through all of his post yesterday and figured I'd get back to it today. I guess not.
Edit: This isn't
the first time he's done this. I guess he joins the list of posters I have to full-quote when responding.

Thanks for reminding me that Vynmous is the Occluded Sun of pre-ISP posters.

Ah, forum tantrums.
Ubernoob. Instead of trying to pretend none of this ever happened maybe next time you ask for help and don't get the answers you were looking for, just say "Okay I got what I needed out of this thread and would now appreciate a fence builder's closing it. If people want to discuss X (RPG social agreements) they can do it elsewhere."
That gets you off of whatever trail of tears you stumbled upon, and without coming off as a tantrum-throwing whatsitmadoodle.

Haha, fuck you. The existence of a post history isn't for your benefit, it's for everyone else's. If there was such a script, why would we tell you where to find it?

Don't do that.
1) It's annoying for other people who read the threads later.
2) It makes you look worse. If I see a deleted post, I'm going to assume the original post was so embarrassingly terrible that the author has to hide it in shame.

"Hey guys, I don't come here much anymore. How about I fuck up a bunch of thread that other people might real later for some reason?"
Edit: Oh, look at that. He went back and killed his OP in the thread I linked to, today.
What was so embarassing about
So, the girl I'm seeing knows that I'm a nerd and she likes that. She also knows I'm a raging alpha male and dislikes that. Unfortunately, I've spent a good chunk of the last three years reshaping my habits to be more of an alpha male and less of a nerd. Any advice on ways I can cheat so that my alpha male tendencies show less and my inner nerd shows more? I seem to have forgotten how to actually show my inner nerd.
that you had to delete it? It's like you're just shitting all over these forums just for shitting's sake.

"Alpha" got his feelings hurt.
Ironically this behaviour is more like a "beta".

aka, the behavior he's trying to justify doing to his group is the same behavior he's exhibiting on this board? He's bored, so might as well leave in a way that will do the most damage to everyone around him.

Nah, it doesn't count if it's a fake apology. He went and removed a bunch more posts within minutes of making the apology.
