I'm tempted by Davanas. But, I make non-commander giants in my capital already. The Davanas cost 25 slaves each, almost as much as a r5g.

I'm kinda surprised that Contact Onaqui didn't go in the first round. Surely, I thought, someone will make that their evil plan?

Se'irim are kinda tempting. My Demonbred can make them, and I get 8 at a time. You always worry that you won't get a Wasteland to make them in - or that you'll get a blood bonus site, not in a Wasteland. Also, E4N4 is really not the bless you want for those guys. They're better than Ocelotls for the price, if anyone is watching from home. Rakshasa Warriors are also a good deal, for early blood-magic brutality - but MR 13 just doesn't cut it.

Celestial Soldiers, at 3 air a piece, are one of the best deals in the game, and they really do like E4N4. But I have recruitable size 4 meat bags; they're not as good but they're just money.

I've never done an Umbral rush before. I'm in pretty good shape for that, actually.

Therefore... screw all y'all, I'm taking:

Did Sachs and Huichain mix their drafts up?

I ask because Sachs has Air/Blood casters and drafted Civatateo (requires Blood/Death), while Huichan has Blood/Death casters and drafted Dakini (requires Blood/Air).

Just seems odd, is all.

Sachs also went with Summon Mandeha (5B2D), so I assume their Fountain of Blood is going to have a splash of death.

As for Huichan, a one-time empowerment of blood is an acceptable price for air/blood battlemages and thugs I think.

This was a tough one. I'll go with Contact Kitsune (Shinuyama) for the diversity, but I'm surprised no one went for Dirge for the Dead (Ashdod). Maybe the marginal utility is just lower since there are already awesome things to do with death gems.

Maliks are kind of cool, but remember that Dirge for the Dead requires not just a Death Mage (that you might be able to pull off with a God), but with a Death Mage who is also a priest. Anyone can cast it by first making a Mound Fiend and then sacrificing him, but the only nations who can cast it without first summoning something to cast it with are Etimhara and Tsimzan.

At Conj 8, you really do have better things to make.

I thought about it, but at the end of the day I decided that they were not as impressive as a Wraithlord AND I don't need more giants.

Dirge of the Dead is the Conj 6, 25 gem one that summons a Dinatu commander without that messy sacrifice. Compared to Bane Lords they seem pretty nice, but I can see how they might be more of a niche role, though they do open up F1D1 for Skulls of Fire.

The Dinatu commander sits somewhere between the Banelord and Wraithlord in cost, paths, and abilities.

They aren't as cheap as Banelords and have bullshit magic, and that's a big deal for any utility uses like casting from items. They aren't able to cast Soul Vortex natively and aren't immortal, and that's a big deal. They also have Shattered Souls and that's a big deal even if it's just 5%.

I suppose they open up Banefire casting, but that's one spell I've never been too fond of.

That being said, they don't really open up any big tactics, and happen to have the worse parts of both Banelords and Wraithlords.

I actually wanted Dakinis too, but Civatateos are an okay second choice. I am honestly shocked I'm getting stuff that I actually want despite being so low on the draft.
