I had one GM that had no Magic Marts, in that world a Wiz slips to Tier 2 simply from lacking the tremendous flexibility they have by the availability of spell scrolls. That is not what happens. Wizards don't need anything that they don't come with. Even the standard issue headband of intellect, wh...

I like to see complex characters in play, and I like to see the characters grow and change from the effects of the story. Sometimes complexity is just an excuse for angst, which I admit, but its the worst and not the best of the trope. Leto the II is a dark character, but certainly not an angsty one.

I don't agree with all of JaronK's designations in the Tiers, but I think the idea of tiers themself is pretty useful. I'd someone needs to be way better at passive-aggressive insults to make me censor my opinions  Yeah. The idea is useful. I think it could be improved first by not just lo...

You can't RP a crisis of conscience if you don't believe theres a crisis. Said player was a black and white girl. Gave some in game warnings from NPC clerics, and some out of game talks alignment. No dice. Sulre the paladin Fell after she tried to kill the villains daughter to prevent her from resur...

I was promised fallacies, not adjectives. Uggh, you want a classical argument. Alright, give me a bit though, writing a cogent analysis of Alignment will take awhile. Tzor, free will spoils the feasibility of keeping alignments square. Do A get B. Kill orcs, if good. But when exceptions to the rule...

My brain bleeds from your stupidity. Bleed way lad. Gets the clots out. Perhaps the meaning of facetious shall come to you  People don't take JaronK's tier system very seriously over here, or at least I can only assume that's what Kaelik is talking about. Just a bit of history: http://www.tgd...

if you haven't concluded by the silence on the subject, most of us are KnotCutters, and we tend not to play modules. I played one module, Age of Worms for a few sessions, thats was it. It was okay *shrugs*. My games seem to be more enjoyable to my players. Part of it you need to be creative to roll ...

I'd need to see some proof of that. Do you have any figures or facts to back that up?Draco_Argentum wrote:Anyone who can get a job writing rpg modules and do it well could just get a job that pays a lot better doing something else. Its no surprise that the best writers are not churning out modules.

Addendum: A module where Teleport doesn't ruin the game Swordslinger? Off the top of my head, a arfifact that has been shattered and the pieces randomly planeshift between several sites. You have one piece to start out and can use it to scry where the others are. Don't delay though, the pieces only ...

You have a poor GM if one KnotCut ends the game. Example given, Gandalf rides Giant Eagles to dump Ring. Seriously, I thought 10 seconds before coming up with 2 different in game challenges, and just refluffing some of the threats to be winged. Shorter game than standard since you skip the terrain h...

Most of it was about race in LotR. Wizards where embodied Maiar. High Elves were crazy powerful, up to mini-Maiar. The most impressive person there by the no special Race factor is Aragon, since he will-dueled Sauron with his Palintir and beat him, something that impressed Gandalf. And even thats a ...

Alright, retarded by standards of real world ethics. I demonstrate thusly: Is killing baby orcs Good or Evil? I'll bite, unprovoked killing and killing of defenceless sentient beings is evil. Reason : Because. Because what man? I'll tell you the cynical answer, because we fucking wouldn't want it t...

Wizard =/= spellcasting in LotR. Wizards can cast 'spells', but it a fraction of their abilities. Apparentlywillpower staredowns and spiritual wrassling is part of the mojo. As is talking to animals, making friends elves and studying Hobbitology. JRR was a silly prat wasn't he? Thinking wizards shou...
