I wonder if we could have gained some actual reward for attacking and killing it. Might be worth coming back again.

But yes, heal up first. I think we're close to Chalice, so maybe we can just heal at Akhiro's house again.

EDIT: Looks like closest might be Luntanesh, so maybe go there. Since we just unified the continent, maybe we can visit the various places to check for possible new content again, even if it wasn't directly involved in the wars.

It's a very short hop to Luutanesh to heal up and refresh that spell. A quick search shows that actually very few places are significantly affected by the code that denotes the new queen's reign. The most significant effect is that we can transfer troops from the Saltdad Barracks to garrisons we control in other books.

What's next?

What additional troops can we get at this point? It might be a good idea to replenish our units, depending on what’s out there.

Saltdad and Lhasbreath are the ones we know about. I guess we might as well go to the former anyway anyway (it's not far away), since if there's any more invasions to be done we'll know about it there.

I don't think there'll be any more campaigns within this book. The option to move troops to outside garrisons might mean that Everchild still seeks to expand her land beyond the valley, but I'm sure there'll be more opportunities to gain troops in those other books too.

We still have 1 more shadow door to open in the ruins, but I also think it's worth going through another brief circuit through the civilized areas in the books one last time to see if there are any more new content unlocked by the unification.

Can't we buy a boat in Cursus? That might open up some watery content.

I'd also be eager to see us try to fight Impposh the Mad at some point, but maybe save that for last in case it's an ignominious end.

I'm sure we can leave via the the sea route at both Cursus and Clifftop. I just wanted to try and get all the content we can unlock out of this book on the mainland before doing so.

Agree about going back to try tackling Imopposh after we'd done everything else here and when we're ready to leave.

Another short jaunt to Saltdad, where we visit the palace and check out the Everchild's last war council.
421

“You have done all I have asked – all I can ever ask,” smiles the Everchild as she greets you into her presence. “As a boon I am willing to provide soldiers to you, should you ever need the services of an army. Provided you own a barracks elsewhere, you have my permission to transfer soldiers to that barracks from Saltdad. Please leave me with a few units, though... you never know when the valley might need them.”
You spend several hours with the Everchild, reflecting on your adventures. Eventually it is time to leave, the Everchild kissing you goodbye. Turn to 620.
Unifying the valley unlocks no further content anywhere, although it has locked out our chance to be sold into slavery by tax collectors. We can still recruit units of Saltdad Infantry (Strength 2, Morale 3) here for 1 gold bullion apiece if you want.

It seems like the plan is currently:
1) ???
2) Rematch with Immoposh.
3) Get on a boat.

So, let me know what you think ??? should be.

We return to the Mordain Ruins, and make our way to the plain-looking room with no distinguishing features except whatever tingle tells us that a shadow door is near.
351

If you have the code A60, turn to 527. You invoke the shadow door, and soon enough a dark portal opens up in the west wall. The chamber beyond looks as empty as the first, with no exits except for the shadow door you just conjured. A circular tunnel, about three feet wide, is raised four feet from the ground on the far wall. It seems to turn sharply upwards. Strange.
Close the shadow door (turn to 717)?
Examine the curved tunnel (turn to 224)?
I feel safe assuming that we didn't come all this way just to turn around, so...
224

Perhaps it would be wiser if only a few people entered the room? Decide who is passing through the shadow door and who is staying behind. You can send your whole party in if you wish, or change your mind and close off the shadow door. Once you have decided, turn to 903 if at least one person enters the room, or 717 if you close the shadow door.

I have to say that I fully expected you to use Skullcracker as an expendable scout.
903

You enter the room with your chosen party members, examining the tunnel curiously. Suddenly there is a loud crunch! Spinning around you see that a stone block has fallen to seal off the shadow door. There is a fearful gurgling sound and suddenly water is pouring out of the tunnel with incredible force. It is not all bad news. A ring of health (Max Health +2) comes washing out with the torrent of water. You may take it if you wish.
     Gain the code A60.
Your thoughts soon turn to escape, the water is already waist deep, and is getting deeper by the second! You may make the skill check below to try to lift up the stone block to allow you to get back to the shadow door. Only party members who entered the room may make this check; the shadow door’s strange field makes it impossible for your friends outside to help. You may repeat the check as often as you need to, however, each time you fail each party member trapped in the room loses 2 Health points.
Lift the stone block (Team check)
[spcacer]Skill and DC: Fighting (5+)
     Successes Required: 4

Note: If you have a prybar you gain 1 automatic success when making this skill check.
If you open the door before perishing, turn to 123.
If all your party members in the room die, the rest of the party may venture on by turning to 717. You cannot recover the equipment from your dead party members.
Not a difficult check when our Fight team is rolling 20d v 5+:1,2,5,2,3,4,2,3,6,1,2,1,3,2,2,5,5,6,5,6=7, success!
123

Gurgling with effort, air bubbles blasting through the water from your mouth and nostrils, you finally wrench the block up high enough to get out. You roll under the block and through the shadow door, the stone block slamming down shut as you do so. You are soaking wet... but alive. Turn to 717.
Done. Anything else that wants doing before the Immoposh-to-boat pipeline?

Getting 2 party members captured earlier made me wary about splitting up the group again. Skullcracker may be expendable, but I think he's more useful providing an extra bonus to the team to help them pass combats/rolls (even if he's not needed for this case) than to be sent on suicide missions where he's likely to fail by himself.

Speaking of which, I vote to use his service for what's probably the final time for a second showdown with Immoposh - after healing up to full at the nearest available inn.

(Oh, and I wanted to hire another Saltdad Infantry unit, but forgot to put in a vote for that earlier, can this be done retroactively?)

Btw, there's been a couple of occasions where we were checked for a prybar that could have given us bonuses, so I think we should also buy another one at the nearest opportunity before we leave the mainland.

The prybar is useful if you're still at low stats, but we've reached a point where inventory space is a premium resource, so unless I hear a second I'm going to let the prybar request slide for now. I'm also not inclined to hire low-grade infantry unless I hear a second, given that there doesn't seem to be any more mass combat in the foreseeable future. We return to Cursus to rest up and refresh the spell, then it's back to the steppes, into the narrows of the canyons, and through the shadow door there to the tomb of Imopposh the Mad. This time, when he rises and blasts us with his shattering rune, we don't force a draw with our holy talisman, but instead face him head-on!
563

This unnatural monster cannot be allowed to live. Drawing your weapons with a grimace, you advance.

OpponentAttackDefHealth
Imopposh the Mad3(4+)4+30

Note: Imopposh, instead of attacking, will cast the following spells each turn, as long as he is still alive:
1st turn: Imopposh casts a Thunderbolt spell. He makes two 10 dice attacks.
2nd turn: Imopposh casts an Orb of Annihilation spell. He makes a single 13 dice attack.
3rd turn: Imopposh casts a Sandstorm spell. Make a 3 dice attack on each party member.
4th turn onwards: Imopposh makes a standard attack.
If you somehow manage to defeat this horror, turn to 311.
Round 1:
Everyone attacks Imopposh, 41d v 4+: 19 damage, ItM at 11/30.
Immoposh casts Thunderbolt, generating two attacks of 5 damage each. One is assigned to Tasha (armour 5) who takes 4 damage and is now at 4/11. The other is assigned to Akihiro (armour 5) who takes 3 damage and is now at 5/11.

Round 2:
Everyone attacks Imopposh, 41d v 4+: 16 damage, ItM defeated.

311

Imopposh gives an unearthly howl before collapsing into piles of dust. You are relieved that the foul sorcerer has finally met his end. Record the code A39.
Your rewards are considerable. A masterwork blade (Fighting +3) and some chain armour (Armour +2) are stuffed into an urn, along with 900 silver coins. In an ancient wooden box packed underneath rotten funeral garbs you discover a glittering necklace (Charisma +2). You may also take a magical weave from Imopposh’s funeral bandages. When you have finished your looting, you return to the desert. Turn to 115.
I assume it's back to Cursus to recover our health/spell and get on a boat, let me know if there's anything happening before that.

Isn’t the thunderbolt spell 2 10 dice attacks rather than 5 dice attacks? Or am I reading that wrong?

My vote will be indeed to heal and get on a boat to the next book.

Each of the 10 dice attacks (vs TN 4) resulted in 5 damage; given the number of dice involved in that combat, I declined to record the individual die results and went straight to the outputs.

Thanks for the clarification. Going straight to the results makes sense.

We return to Cursus, get our resting done, then head to the harbor to check out boat options.
33

The harbour of Cursus is long and shallow. The jetties reach far out beyond the coast, each wide enough for a pair of dragonyaks to drag the cargoes of ships to the warehouses on the beach.
You may buy a ship here, if you have enough money. The largest vessel for sale is the Cursite war galley, a coastal-hugging warship which carries little cargo, but is the only vessel that can even hope to compete with the more advanced vessels of Royce and Drakehallow. A smaller, but more efficient, single-masted cog is also available. The war galley will cost 1500 silver coins, and the cog 800 silver coins.

Cog
Fighting 4     Health 7     Cargo 2 units

Cursite War Galley
Fighting 6     Health 9     Cargo 1 unit

When you buy a ship you should give it a name, fill in its details on your adventure sheet and note that it is currently docked in Cursus harbour.
You can repair any ship you have in Cursus harbour. Each Health point you restore costs 50 silver coins. You can restore your ship up to its starting Health value. You can sell a cog here for 250 silver coins, a Cursite war galley for 500 silver coins and a carrack for 1500 silver coins. You cannot sell other kinds of ship here.
You can buy cargo for your ship here, as well. These goods are too large for your characters to carry, but they can be loaded onto any ship you have in Cursus harbour. You cannot buy more cargo units than you can store in your ship (for instance, a Cog can carry 2 Cargo Units). You can also sell any goods you are carrying in your ships for the same price as well.

Salt     600 silver coins
Crops     500 silver coins
Steel     3000 silver coins
Spices     3300 silver coins
Wine     2100 silver coins
Slaves     1000 silver coins

When you have finished your trades, turn to 340, to return to the city centre, or 499 to set sail on one of your ships.
Tell me which boat you want to buy, what you want to name it, and what cargo (if any) you might like to put in it.

Buy a war galley and name it the Titanic.

(Why is our health still depleted if we'd done our resting?)

I vote to buy a war galley, name it the Black Pearl, and buy wine for cargo, since rum is not an option.
