Dominions recommendation

Post by JigokuBosatsu »

Hey all, a friend of mine wants to start playing some strategy games with me. I suggested Dominions, as I futzed around with a little bit some years ago. He's totally new to the franchise, but more experienced with strategy games in general.

Is there a particular edition of Dominions that would be better for newbies?

Dom5 has the most quality-of-life features, I'd recommend it on that basis alone.

Dominions 5 is a strict improvement on the prior titles, having more content and an active playerbase for multiplayer games. There's no reason why you would pick a prior version.

I know there can be a balancing act between complexity bloat and QOL improvements, glad to hear the ratio is skewed positively. Will definitely start with 5 then.
