Question: What if I desired some Bloodstained crossover-y goodness in my Castlevania game and wanted to play a Shardbinder? It's basically the same as Soma Cruz's ability to steal souls, right? Are there rules for that?

Also - minor tangent - speaking of Bloodstained and on the subject of guns, firearms are the most powerful weapons in that game. Using a maxed out Renee's Requiem with Diamond Bullets with the Recycle Hat and Gunslinger Scarf can get your attack well past the 700 range, and can reasonably kill almost every enemy in the game with one to three hits.

... Except Valac, that two-headed piece of shit.

Did you also get the enhancement for unlimited ammo?

I'd imagine you could write rules that would easily cover both since they're so similar.

Ayup. That's would be the aforementioned Recycle Hat. Best damn item in the game.

I know less than nothing about writing rules for TTRPGs.

That's why I come here, so other people can do it for me.

It can be almost anything you want it to be.

Soma's souls and Bloodstained shards are "power slots", you slot in some passive or active or minion autonomous or MP consuming powers.

For a cooperative tabletop game, such a versatile character would kinda be like the Tome blue Totemist. In a game where other characters are specialists this character type has to be carefully tuned to not be useless but also not do everyone elses job better.

That also depends on if you want certain monsters to be super hosers of certain character styles. Like if there's a monster that sees through all illusions or is immune to fire then the illusionist fire guy won't do as well as the icicle hurler.

We are Legion!
The Denner’s Oath
The Denner, The Denner’s reflection: [in unison] A Denner is unhelpful, unfriendly and unkind.
The Denner’s reflection: With ungracious thoughts...
The Denner: ...in an unhealthy mind.
The Denner’s reflection: A Denner is uncheerful, uncouth and unclean. Now say this together!
The Denner, The Denner’s reflection: I'm frightfully mean! My eyes are both shifty. My fingers are thrifty.
The Denner: My mouth does not smile.
The Denner’s reflection: Not half of an inch.
The Denner: I'm a Denner.
The Denner’s reflection: I... am a Denner.
The Denner: I'm a Denner!
The Denner’s reflection: That's my boy. Now go out and prove it!

I meant from a Doylist perspective, not a Watsonian perspective.

From a Watsonian perspective the explanations could be things like:
  • "they just are more resistant to this stuff."
  • "There is no such spell"
  • "The spells to do that are too difficult to mass-produce"
  • (as mentioned) "They expect to fight armies with guns, because they're actually preparing for this shit and know what's around, and most armies use guns."

To expand on the "those spells don't exist" suggestion from RadiantPhoenix,
"I come from a fantasy land where magic makes monsters immune to bullets and explosives, so we fight with sticks and stones"

which is basically the premise of Dune, right? People fight with swords because everyone has a force field that requires you to stab them slowly.

It doesn't make sense with real world physics, but magic can work however you want.

Leto I Atreides was betrayed by his physician and killed himself in an effort to take Baron Harkonen with him.

I don't remember any slow-moving bullets in Dune but I haven't many of the prequels and sequels and such so such things could certainly show up.

Adding a personal ki channeling element makes "werewolf shrugs off bullets, but the ki channeled through the hand held whip tears it up"
