• If you have remove curse or the amulet of light... √
The garland of deathpale blossoms resting on his brow shrivels and falls. Sight returns to your foe's eyes and he seems dazed.

• Attack?
• Wait? √
It doesn't explicitly say that it uses up our Remove Curse spell, but I don't think there's any question that it's meant to. I also think it's fair to assume that having spent resources to get to this state rather than attacking, we aren't going to attack now.
The giant rubs his eyes. "MY THANKS, LITTLE MAN. YOU HAVE LIFTED MY CURSE."

• If you have slain his brother, he bellows and attacks... x
• Otherwise... √
"I OWE YOU A DEBT. THERE IS TREASURE BENEATH THE ALTAR. I WILL LIFT IT FOR YOU AND YOU MUST CRAWL UNDER AND GRAB IT."

• Do as he requests?
• Leave?

We broke his curse so I assume we can trust him. Do as he says.

Well, we probably can't (his brother trapped us), but I don't think his trap will be harmful if it is one. Do it anyway.

Beneath the altar, you find a chest. You drag it out and must roll for one chest trap.
[d2+51:53] Poison Needle! Make a Saving Throw vs Poison at -6 or take 10 points of damage. ([d20-6:2] passed!)
The chest contains one scroll, one potion, and any treasure that the other giant stole from you. There is also a magical ring of pleasantness. It will allow you to pass by two unpleasant encounters without suffering any effects and then is useless. The ring has no power over Milgor. In addition, you find a piece of the broken tablet, #15, but it is blank.
You gain 1 Persistence and 2 Honor.
For the random loot, there are eight potions, and since the choice is at first entirely blind, I'm just going to roll. [d8:3] The modifier for potion #3 is +2 and the base potion roll is 1d8+5, so... [d8+7:15].
The drink makes you light-headed and you could swear you floated for a second.
Apparently we auto-taste the potions and get a hint of their effect. There's a listing to go to if we drink the whole thing.

Finally, the scroll. We know one of the scroll listings(#4) is +2.
• Pick +2 again?
• Pick another at random?

Pick at random. +2 screwed us over anyways.

The d3 says we're picking scroll #2, with a modifier of... +4. The base scroll roll is 1d4+32, so [d4+36:39]...
This scroll has 1 spell, but you need read magic to use it.
Do we want to trade a use of Read Magic for what's on the mystery scroll?
Also, there's no further text to this encounter. We can keep exploring this lost city or backtrack to the overworld map and pick another destination.

Use a read magic, that's what we memorised them for.

And I'm not sure. On one hand I want to keep exploring, because all of the encounters have allowed us to retreat so far, so we could stick our heads into a couple of rooms just to see if there's any easy treasure lying around.

On the other hand, we've explored like half the dungeon and there has been no other easy treasure- just the one random loot, gatelocked by a very tough fight- but there are traps, and we haven't encountered any YET, so maybe we should just take our plot coupon and scram.

Cast read magic.

I'd continue through the city since we're already here.

One read magic later...
This scroll has a fly spell.
I am already looking forward to using it to skip overland encounters. (Note: I have no idea if that's an actual supported use.)

In the absence of more specific instructions than 'stay in city,' I'll just go west from where we are.

We immediately hit a trap. [d6+170:174]
Your foot catches on an unseen wire. With a whoosh, the room starts to flood with sand and you start to sink. To escape, roll less than 14 on 1d20 or use a rope. Take 2 damage each round you are trapped.

• Try to struggle free?
• Use a rope?

Do you want to...
• Entangle a foe?
• Pull yourself to safety? √
• Cross a gap?
Your desperate throw snags a branch and you haul yourself out of the mire.
Hm, it says desperate, but has a 0% chance of failure. Rope is awesome.

Where to next?
• West?
• Southwest?
• Leave the city?
• Other? (specify)

This building is dark and dingy. The floor seems to move on its own and attacks you. Use M5, but with only 30 hp.
• If you defeat the monstrosity...
We haven't faced the M5 statblock before, so we have almost no info on this whatever-it-is.
• Spell?
• Talk?

• Attack?
• Evade?
• Item?

I don't know why a living floor would talk to us, but sure, let's give it a punt, and fight it if that fails.

1 Black Pudding; Save 14; Evade 4
Talk –; AC 6; THAC0 10; Atk: 3d8
Spcl: 1-2 (M40), if struck 20 (M41)
Immune: Fire Wall, Hold, Sleep, Phantasmal Force; TS none
XP 15; HP 45 30
Round 1: Talking does nothing! It attacks [d20:20] and hits for [3d8:6] damage!
Knowing what we know now, what's the plan?
• Attack?
• Evade?
• Item?

Since we're already engaged with the enemy, it gets a free attack at +2, [d20+2:8] but misses. Our own attempt to flee [d20:10] succeeds!

Where to now?
