The machine cannot target its own insides, so Sigrid's the only one on the lightning list.

(Apologies for the general slowdown and reduced attention to detail; I've started a seasonal job with insane hours that is also more physically demanding than I'm used to. Upside, I'm shedding a lot of flab. Downside, it's difficult to find the energy to do much of anything else.)

Churlaf moves to engage Thrain and tries shoving him into an arc-light.
Churlaf engagement: <7> +5 RES = 12
Thrain resist: <4> +3 str -3 skill = 4
Damage: MoS 8 +25 DAM -10 soak = 23 (+1 wound)

Sigrid is going to risk a berserk attack on Hogni. If it brings him down she'll then move to K25 in position to charge Churlaf assuming she gets first move next turn. Otherwise her position probably won't matter a lot but she'll move to R26 and still be enagaged with Hogni.

((No worries, man. Hope the job gets easier. Thanks for running this, I've been finding it really engaging :)

I thought I couldn't take damage from hazardous terrain if I was already inside it and making saves... and do his degrees of success in the combat maneuver add to the damage of the terrain, like with melee attacks?))

Thrain roars in pain and lurches forward, circling around to N22. He takes up his work sword and shoulders his longbow, and then throws himself bodily at Churlaf, trying to push him inside the machine.

Damaging Places can't damage you more than once per turn, but if it hasn't damaged you in a given turn then it can keep 'trying' each time a trigger comes up. In any case, Churlaf's shove was the first trigger this turn. As for MoS adding to Damaging Places damage, it depends on the terrain; it was not the case with the Jarl's hall fires, but it is the case with this monstrosity.

So much for the charge bonus.

Sigrid looks down at the deceased Hogni, then around at the three slain by Thrain, then to Astrid who might have lived if her fellow shieldmaiden had paid a little more attention, then to Churlaf who commanded that monstrosity and enslaved its workers.

"You. Will. Pay." she says, failing to find any longer or more elaborate words to declare her intent as she moves to L20, makes a normal attack, and makes a token attempt to knock Churlaf off his footing so he stumbles into the machine (unless my max is shoving someone 0 hexes due to my 0 strength, since even 1 hex is enough from that direction).

Perhaps I can even borrow some – from you!" He maneuvers between the two of you, slashing at Sigrid and shoving at Thrain.

Thrain was prepared to take being shoved into an arclight and having some skin abraded with good humour, but Churlaf's irreverent manner about Astrid just rubs him wrong.

"Enough." He barks. "You'll join your men in death. No fires will be lit to mark your passing. No-one save us will even know of it, and even we will forget you. You've not yet done enough to enter Valhalla, and now it's too late."

He maneuvers around to I23 as he monologues, attempting to surprise Churlaf with a sudden lunging strike from his sword. He drives forward, attempting to send Churlaf stumbling back into the machine (to R20 if that would hurt him, otherwise two hexes.).

Sigrid will maneuver to I21 to frustrate any more attempts to shove her into the machine, then attack the only target, ducking & weaving.

Thrain attempts to bind his wound (unless it's more difficult to do when he's engaged with someone, in which case he'll attack instead), and then re-enter the machine at W21.

Attacking for full usual force, but past performance suggests I will barely scratch Churlaf's paint. (The term cherry tapping originally refers to defeating enemies with ludicrously weak attacks in fighting games IIRC)
