Metal cables in the muscles? Huh.

In any case, marines can now break a humans skull? This was something they couldn't do before?

And who allowed him to tinker with the big E's work like that?

I'd assume Rawbutt Girlyman, since he got into Great Leader's throne room and out alive even after helping Cypher to Earth. Also since Cawl helped resurrect him.

So our brains have a core? We probably keep it just under our mantles. Human anatomy must have advanced so much in 40,000 years, so much so that biscopia and ossmodula are actual things that exist.

I think those are specific to Space Marines - remember, the information above is specifically improving the Space Marine blueprint in order to make Primaris marines.

The biscopia goes at the base of the skull to secret superhuman growth hormone, the other thing attaches to the ribcage to make them into supervenetian blinds and healthybones

Let's also talk about the Reivers.

Firstly: I know you changed the spelling of "reaver" into something you can copyright there, but YOU ALREADY HAVE REAVERS IN THE GAME YOU STUPID FUCKS.

Pictured: apparently the new Space Marine?

Secondly: they're releasing mono-pose zero-option plastic-snap-shit versions before the normal versions. Meaning the datasheet in the box actually straight-up says they have the Ultra Marines tag (to go with the plastic being blue!) and they have a unit size of 3 (whereas they'll probably end up being 5-10 or at the very least 3-9 or something in the final thing) and can't take Grav-Chutes. The whole article talking about their deep strike ability actually doesn't apply to them yet. They are a close combat unit that has to walk into close combat from the deployment zone like chumps.

Thirdly: their wargear is seriously just "Combat Knife (so +1 Attack at normal profile) and Bolt Pistol with -1 AP" aside from having both types of grenade and a new special grenade that makes the frag grenades unnecessary as it does everything frags do except better.

Finally: okay, so they have new technology that lets them scream super loud at people. New, state-of-the-art technology never seen before and certainly not heretical in any way.

The Rievers get to ignore overwatch so I think their banshee masks are better than the Craftworld Eldar ones at the moment.

Reavers are also...

- Eldar Corsair Reaver Bands: dudes with jump packs and twin pistols + snazzy guns

- Reaver Class Titan: A big hunchback with gun arms

Even in the context of 40k fluff text that shot is dumb. That is not a high bar, and they failed to get over it.

Huh...apparently they didn't rename the DE reavers yet. Though I don't see why they can't call their marines reivers and have other things called reavers.

I think DE reavers make more sense, though, in that the drukhari are piratical.

I agree with FrankTrollman, though, the fluff is even worse than the old even worse stuff.

It is, but it compares favourably with more or less all the names GW has come up with recently.

It would be better if they were to perhaps do some reiving, though.

Reiver is literally just a little-used regional (Scotland) spelling of reaver. It's not even pronounced differently and it still means 'robber.' It's exactly as dumb as if they presented a new Eldar aspect warrior tradition called Bloud Angells.

Because that is heretech. Not imperium developed and sanctioned.

Still, they have the betchers gland which basically gives them spit like a xenomorphs blood that can and will eat through steel in a matter of minutes.

There are chapters where some of the Space Marine upgrades don't work. Notably the Imperial Fists explicitly don't have acid spit or the ability to enter suspended animation, unlike most marines.

Somewhat old news, but 30k is remaining with 7th edition rules and even got their own base rulebook.

Necromunda

I have no ideas if the rules are good, but I liked this game in 1996.

Well from the stat cards they're showing off (and the return of templates, scatter dice, and especially ammo/jam dice, which have been gone since 2nd), they're doing a weird hybrid of 2nd and 8th edition rules, which is pretty much right fucked. To hit modifiers, returning a bunch of old mental characteristics (all pretty much redundant) and all the keyword spam of the new edition.

But the boxed game isn't necromunda. Its Necromunda Underhives. Which sounds trivial, but all the campaign rules and terrain rules for 3d terrain and stuff that people actually remember from Necromunda will be sold separately in a $30 book next to the box with the flat dungeon board and two incomplete* gangs selling for probably $120-150. So... they deliberately ripped a core part of the game rules out to sell separately. Classy shit.

*no juves, which are confirmed for being in the game, and probably lacking some of the specialist options that will be in the inevitable individual gang sets, so you can buy 'em all again.

Add in some tactics cards so they can follow the FFG model of selling you a largely empty box with a couple models and some game winning cards, as they're doing with Shadespire*. The shadespire expansion warbands are 30 fucking dollars a piece for 4, 5 or 7 models and some cards, and necromunda gangs are typically bigger (up to twice as big, plus there are weapon options to consider, which shadespire doesn't have), so the price point on those is going to be super fun.

And it will apparently take to sometime mid-next year to get the six basic gangs out, so... enjoy that.

This is a nostalgia boner release for 'New GW' to continue testing out the big boy model of exploitative sales tactics.

*The big issue with the shadespire game is it is theoretically a $60 game. But each new warband comes with new universal cards that can be slotted into your card deck, making it better... at $30 per expansion. So for people who want to win, it's already a $120 game, soon to be a $150 game] Plus, the general pricing is just poor: for the 'orruk' warband, the pricing works out to $7.50 a model. If you just buy the current orruk boxed set, it's $3.53 a model. Skeletons are even worse. $30 for 7 rather than $25 for 10.
