I don't think there's a joke to get. Except "Hahaha, aren't all Sanders supporters terrible people? And also cross dressers, aren't they terrible too?"

Look, I'm going to be honest, if I could transition like that just by donning some Trump gear.... I'd have to seriously consider it.

It's propaganda trying to recruit youthful Sanders supporters to Trump. It is probably created by paid content creators working for one of Trump's associated propaganda mills. Because shit posting 4chan and reddit with weird far right propaganda is a thing that Trumpist propaganda mills do.

They fucking turned Pepe the Frog into a white nationalist mascot just by spam posting Feels Good Man neo-nazi image macros until the association became undeniable. And yes, they are telling people that being a Sandernista is boring and weak and they need to let their freak flag fly and go full fascist.

It doesn't make sense. But it doesn't have to. It's attempting to force memes on 4chan to drum up support for far right positions. And they do definitely get enough takers to organize some harassment campaigns of prominent feminists and liberals.

I'm guessing that using some of 4chan's more racist existing memes would be too overt and direct?

There are basically two types of Channers. Channers who hate those memes, and Channers who already support Trump.

Pepe was all about peeing with your pants around your ankles because it "feels good man".
You can't take that away from me.

Technically the stuff Frank is saying regarding pepe the frog didn't happen until Hillary Clinton started claiming it was a white nationalist symbol. I'll probably vote for her, but she's utterly clueless about internet culture (painfully so in fact). He's right about Trump being more supported by the alt right but I think he's overly optimistic in assuming they're being manipulated. I grew up with people who were very much like the alt-right and hateful, insecure white people are more common than he thinks, and would probably exist in some form regardless of external stimuli.

Technically you are full of shit and the alt-right has been making cross posted memes between Breitbart, Reddit, 4chan, and Stormfront for at least 6 months and probably longer than that. Hillary Clinton did not create Milo Yiannopoulos. Hillary Clinton did not create Red Pill. Here's an article from fucking April about how Trumpists are mysteriously spamming the fuck out of Reddit. And gosh, here's an article from this month about how Reddit shitposting has been financed by multi-millionaires supporting Trump. Funny how that worked.

The Neo Nazi movement did not become a big thing because Hillary Clinton said that it was a big thing and that was terrible on national television. Hillary Clinton said they were a big thing and that was terrible because they were already a big thing and that is fucking terrible.

Palmer Luckey has been financing far right internet trolls for months. Hillary Clinton didn't build that.

Cram a bastard in it, you basic preening bitch. Frank's being a tinfoil chewing fucktard too, but at least he correctly places the meme from 4chan.

It's stupid bullshit about the Sanders or Trump kind of person, of which there are a lot of on 4chan, comparing them to the kinds of people which dress up (or pretend to be) little anime girls not because of any gender dysphoria or even a vested interest in being Trans anything, but because their view of women and sexual congress is so low that they think if they act like the worst stereotypes of "that slut who didn't sleep with me in high school" they will have easy and cheap sex with no further effort put in.

Fuck them.

Look, 4chan is not actually the wild frontier of the internet. It's a website that pulls tens of millions of unique visitors monthly. When you have a platform that large, people are going to spend money organizing PR campaigns on it. If you look hard enough, you probably can get paid to shitpost on 4chan and reddit. You absolutely can get paid to organize shitposting on 4chan and reddit. You think people run bots to spam those dubious links all over the site for fun? Motherfucker that's a botnet, and the owner of that botnet is being paid. Just like you can get paid to write fake reviews on Amazon. This is just how the internet works; when there's that many ears in one place, people will pay you to shout things they want shouted.

No, the alt right isn't being manipulated into supporting Trump. That's gibberish; they already support Trump. But Frank didn't say that. He just said there are organized and funded efforts to spread pro-Trump memes and increase their exposure, which there probably are. That's weird as shit, but it's 2016 and realistically advertising is never going to be more than a couple years behind where the people are. Obviously, the people who see paypal monies out of this are an incredibly small minority, but that's how all advertising works anyway so what? One mouth can reach a lot of ears, and every pair of ears is attached to another mouth - you've talked about Superbowl ads with your friends before and you know it. You weren't paid to do that; they paid some actors and a television network to expose you (and a bunch of other people) to an idea and you (and a bunch of other people) helped spread that idea like it was the fucking plague. Advertising!

And no, Pepe the Frog wasn't really associated with the alt right until the media said it was. The "rare Pepe" bullshit had just gone viral before this, and the idea that 4chan's /pol/ could "reclaim" something millennial's parents are posting on facebook is fucking absurd. They just aren't a large enough group to successfully do that. But the media said they'd successfully done just that, so now they have - because that's how it works. So yes, media coverage of internet memes is hilariously out-of-touch and incoherent, and as a result Pepe is now a white nationalist symbol because literally "fuck you I said so that's why."

The internet is stupid and people are stupid about it. It's a terrible headache and if it weren't for all the porn I'd say get rid of it.

This is totally unrelated, but mildly embarrassing anecdote: I spent my adolescence in some weird ass chatrooms. They weren't exactly dedicated to ERP, but it was definitely a place people went to in order to find people to do that with. Lots of people with profiles advertising their interests, the occasional failed private message that'd dump a wall of NSFW text into the room, but otherwise the public side of the chat was just normal (vaguely videogame-oriented) shit and there were plenty of people with no interest in one-handed chatting at all. I met a lot of people who are basically the exact kind of people we are talking about, and I've gotta admit it has always kind of puzzled me. Why are there a bunch of basically straight guys (and they often are basically straight) who get off on... I'm not even sure how to describe it. Pretending to be hyperbolically slutty girls? Wanting to be sexually objectified, but as a woman? I don't fucking know.

But I am not sure your "bitter about rejection" theory holds up, because some of the people I met there who fit this weird little profile actually were gay or trans. Hell, it turns out two of them lived relatively close to eachother across the U.S.-Canada border and they've since ended up married. One had embarrassing experiences with women, but it was the "I don't like this at all. Should I?" kind, not the "why doesn't she want me as much as I want her" kind. I'm pretty sure it's just garden variety power fantasy. Dominance, submission, humiliation, that sort of thing - though it's still an open question why there are (nominally) heterosexual men who want to play that power fantasy out from the woman's perspective instead of the man's.

Spoiler alert, non trans crossdressers exist, and they in fact, aren't monsters who deserve scorn just because of your prejudices.

It's about power. Being sexually desired is a type of power. It's a type of power that modern pop culture generally associates exclusively with women.

Or to put it another way.
