How Do I Horde?

What base RPG mechanic/system is ideal for playing a science-fiction skirmish-size team of players (your typical adventuring party) with a strong emphasis on ranged capability against large numbers of enemies (no-appearing: 20-300)? D&D is more melee focused & Shadowrun doesn't handle hordes of enemies as well, so I'm curious as to which foundation would be better to build on.

Have you looked at Koumei's Dungeon Crusade material? Those guns make mowing down enemies at a distance pretty doable.
