Real talk... FUCK THE REAL WORLD. Strangereal is perfectly serviceable and allows you to depict your world in ways other than our cyberpunk hellscape, a planet without rising fascism and dictators that put babies in cages or abolish the division of powers. My Mage heartbreaker specifies from the beginning it's a world with cars and buildings and Kardashev near 1 tech, but NOT OUR WORLD.

As for masquerades, though, my heartbreaker handles it with reality covering all unusual stuff with "normie filters" because normies don't want to see the strange and unusual. The goblin looks like a genetic dwarf, everyone remembers (and video shows) the werewolf massacre as a terrorist incident, etc. Only supernatural beings see through this filter and, while magic can make for some really hard to justify scenarios, the Paradox-with-serials-filed-off is a big deterrent not to push your luck.
