I don't really agree. We like to give the genre as a whole shit about being too homogeneous for its own good but even so there's enough variation going on that there's going to be some clear winners when you start comparing Mystic Quest to Chronotrigger or Vay to Lunar.

I have the X and X-2 remakes for PS3, and they are gathering the dust they deserve. I never intended on playing X again, right from the start, and as for X-2, I only completed the first mandatory mission then decided to do their Pokemon thing to unlock the Psychic class. And then every monster in the tournament went into Soul Mode, so I guess that just flat-out isn't happening.

Sadly, I am more hyped for the Final Fantasy App Portal they are releasing since it will have a game that I like, Triple Triad, for free* without having to play a game that I hate, FF8.

*it is most likely free to play.

Tetsuya Nomura has mentioned that they're already doing an HD update of the PSX FF7, so "having a better looking FF7 and a much better looking FF7 coming out doesn't make sense", so FF7 on PS4 will be more than 'just' a remake.
Crystal Chronicles
I actually played that one with my brothers as we all had GBA's, had fun. Like Secret of Mana on the Gamecube.

They've said they wouldn't feel right having these super HD high-res models standing in a line, jumping at an enemy, attacking, and leaping back into place, so there's going to be some sort of mechanical fudgetry going on.

They'll probably use a realtime battle system similar to to the recent games.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided looks pretty good right now. Looks like social interactions have a lot more triggers regarding your actions before them, so that is good.

The promise no need to kill anyone, and better exploration areas, but they promised those last time and didn't deliver, so not much there.

Looks like the one map they showed actually had a hell of a lot more choice and paths than usual, but it was also a demo, and you couldn't see how much those choices were really actual choices, because you just follow the route of the guy playing it.

Still, all in all, it looks at least as good as HR, and that was a good game, and the commitment to constantly branching paths and wider toolkit alone might make the game much better. And because the way the game has you as a double agent type role, you should be able to make choices before literally pushing one of three final buttons, that effects your ending.

Am I the only person who didn't like Human Revolution and am completely unenthused for Mankind Divided? They stapled their balls to the wall by doing a prequel in the first place and then completely overlooked all the fun shit that the original Deus Ex let you do like pacifist runs and total stealth runs. And not even going to get into the ending (aside from saying once I was shown the buttons I spent a good ten minutes staring at the screen going "What? Nothing I did mattered? What the fuck!").

...But then again, I liked Invisible War, so I have shit opinions.

I actually liked Invisible War as well. Though I rarely bring that up when talking about Deus Ex games. But yes, the end buttons were dumbed, and the boss fights were dumb, but that is like, 5% of the content, and the rest was pretty good.

And if you know about making the game, the licensed the boss fights out to another company, and they hated them as much as we do, and they are promising that won't happen again.

The Director's Cut boss fights were a bit better, in that you could do stuff like hack sentry guns to fight with or do other environmental tricks.

The third boss fight arena hilariously has a heavy box of some sort that you can throw at him to ragdoll him for pretty long. It's quite time consuming, but entirely possible to kill him doing nothing but that (might cost you a candy bar or two if you don't space it out properly as lifting/throwing the box still takes up energy).

I'm mainly hoping Mankind Divided has plenty of quasi sandboxy hub levels as those were my favorite parts of Human Revolution. Btw, the devs were planning to put in more hub levels, i.e. Upper Hengsha, Montreal and Singapore in Human Revolution but ran out of time and/or money.

Also, I should probably play Invisible War at some point.

I've watched the gameplay trailer for MGS V and my boner lasted for more than a few hours. Do I need to see a doctor or can I survive until Autumn as is?

Yeah. You need to get that drained.

What they do is insert a hypodermic needle in there and suck the blood out. Then they'll tell you to play ET for a few hours.

It also makes no fucking sense. They already wrote the program for one player with control over the bots.

It would have taken like 20 lines of code to make a two player game as well.

While I don't expect neither The Last Guardian or FF-7 Remake any time soon (and for all we know TLG is still vaporware), just the teaser of FF-7's remake means Squeenix has finally pulled their heads out of their asses regarding listening to the players who have been asking for it for nearly a decade now... of course, a teaser doesn't mean anything in a market where a project can go up in smoke at any point before the graphics optimization phase, but the change in mindset from "NO" to "RSN" is significant in and of itself.

The funny thing is that they announce the remake when XV is not even out yet, especially when Squeenix had already renounced all commitment to the console market since last year and supposedly XV was the last chance they were giving AAA titles.

Nintendo's game design policies seem to be built off of the premise of making no fucking sense. Introducing a game with "we're hyping this as multiplayer co-op" and then saying "lol we mean 3 players only fuck you people who have only one other friend interested in the game and reasonably assumed we meant 2-player was an option because that would be easy to implement and fun to play" is par for the course.

As much as I'd like to hope that they lay off the drugs and code in 2p co-op between now and release I suspect that they won't and I'll end up playing that game alone.

Now if they'd just do the same with Dragon Quest, I could die happy.

Finally watched the Just Cause 3 gameplay footage, and I'm excited for it. I mean, it really is "Just Cause 2, but more", but that's all I wanted. And the "but more" isn't only "more area, more missions, more guns", but also thinking bigger in terms of destruction, chaos and mayhem. In one case making an explosion bigger until it almost crashed the physics engine.

And they specifically called out everyone's biggest complaint with JC2 (requisitions requiring a cutscene, menu selection and another cut scene... for each item requisitioned), and showed that now there's no cutscene, you just go "I want this, this and this" and then a massive crate crashes to the ground. Bam, all done. Bonus points: they did away with QTEs.

I've only played Human Revolution and I had so much time just playing the game that I actually had no idea what the story was for a good portion of the game. I ignored the little bits and pieces of information I'd gathered off of people's computers and just spent time having fun. It was very meaningful to me because I don't really like stealth games much. So I'm excited for the next installment.

The problem is that only one player gets to control bot(s).

Can you still call it symetrical co-op when one player controls two characters and another controls just one?
