RPG Player Survey

Post by Meikle641 »

Well Denners, I was wondering if you could spend a couple minutes on a survey, if you have the time later on. I'm trying to do some basic market research for my company Heartbreaker Press, so I can get some funding. Would you be willing to? It's like, 12 questions combined.

Part 1: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FB8XYMF
Part 2: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FBWSQVQ

I had to split it in two parts because the free tier only allows 10 questions on a survey.

Thanks.

I actually assumed age:other was for those under 18, since the survey started at 18-24 iirc

For number of RPGs, you can edit 5+ into being 7+ without borking survey results I believe, if that's what you want. But if you add/remove new categories that can mess with things.

This survey made me realize that I haven't bought any RPG books since Hollow Earth Expedition's Mysteries of Hollow Earth in 2010 or early 2011.

I expect I'll pay up for Earthdawn's next edition, and definitely Hollow Earth's long anticipated Revelation of Mars, but nothing new has caught my dollar for some time.

Done. Also, the "How much money have you spent on RPGs?" answer I gave is inaccurate if you include video games. Which, given an above question covered video games, isn't a terrible assumption. But whatever. I have not purchased a roleplaying book in the last 12 months.

Cool. I just left it unmarked. It's a good option to have, since I doubt(?) I'm the only transgendered tabletop gamer.

Done. And like Koumei, I'm not sure what that $s question is asking. I gave it a video game + ttrpg answer, because it makes it look like there's more money out there for you to compete for.

Just a heads up... Your post is pregnant... When you miss that many periods it's just a given.

The company I registered over the summer. Got a few irons in the fire, but the main sticking point is money. Got two campaign settings for my system, another for D&D, and I'm looking to get into adventure modules as well.

I'm curious whether anyone but me will put but D&D 3.5 and Apocalypse World in their top 3.

Well, I put D&D 3.Tome in my first spot. Which is basically 3.5, more or less. But second and third were Maid and Palladium (TM) RIFTS (R). So we're really looking at three completely separate directions of game (a system that's fairly well crafted, with a lot of options that are all listed in a way you can generally find them, and is considered easy to run. A game that is simplistic and almost a joke. A game that is an utter nightmare in every aspect but you can play as dinoriders or psychic ninja robots.)

I feel like having those as my favourites is some kind of deficiency :/
