CoE5: Nothing to fear but the deer itself

Post by Avoraciopoctules »

Conquest of Elysium 5 just got announced! 3 months out, but there's already some cool stuff on the Steam Page.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1606 ... Elysium_5/

Kobolds with dragon overlords, Caelians, and even rumors that you can play Dark Sun sorcerer kings leeching power out of the land and funneling it to your champions using dread pyramids.

Kobold King
The Kobold King is, in principle, the reincarnation of the Draconian from Conquest of Elysium 2, though with a lot of changes. The Kobold King has access to frail but incredibly numerous kobolds of five different subtypes, four of which can be made to spawn from greater mines (i.e. not coal mines) for a one-time cost in gold and iron. The Kobold King uses elemental gems for various rituals, including summoning dragons to protect your mines. As the game progresses, the Kobold King's armies will progress from swarms of fragile and weak troops, to huge swarms of fragile but hard-hitting troops and mages.

Scourge Lord
The Scourge Lord makes use of a new resource called "Life Force", which is generated through constructing Pillars of Power in various locations on Elysium. The power these Pillars generate is determined by how rich in life the area around it is - and as time passes, the Pillar will destroy that life. Partly inspired by the Dark Sun setting of D&D fame, a successful Scourge Lord will slowly turn the entire world into a barren desert in his pursuit of power. The main use of Life Force is summoning a variety of monsters themed around decay, though there's a few other uses for it. Even in combat, the Scourge Lord's defilement magic requires life force to be used - in the absence of nearby plant life, allied soldiers provide an equally ample supply of it.

Cloud Lord
The Cloud Lord can be seen as an air-themed counterpart to the earth-themed Pale Ones. Like how the Pale Ones now start in Agartha, the Cloud Lord starts in the sky. The Cloud Lord shares a lot of its magic with the Warlock, but is much more focused on the element of Air and on Storm Magic, and have access to a slightly altered list of summons. The Cloud Lord's recruitable troops can all fly, and many of them have magic weapons. While the Cloud Lord's magic mainly uses sapphires, other types of gems can be used for a small number of more specialized rituals, and also to recruit certain elite troops.

Auto-recruit: Will be a thing

Recruitment queues:
Kristoffer: Recruitment queues are now a thing. ctrl-click and recruitment will continue until you un-click it.

10 Planes, Agartha and Sky are more easily accessible the Sky being the easiest though if you don't have flying to expect to be able to explore it much.

Agartha and Sky are considered to be part of the Elysium plane

New terrain, Portal and Mountain Spire:
Mountain Spire can be seen further away and be used to reach the skies. Portal that spawns north who knows where it leads.

New battle maps with buildings as obstruction and different fortification types

losing your last citadel on Elysium will cause you to lose the game, well it is the Conquest of Elysium after all. (I hope this will be a game option)

Workshop support

public multiplayer lobby

map modding with planes

in main view skulls represent how many dead present in a tile. only characters like necromancers will know this.

Pale Ones get a new slinger unit

New Necromancer ritual Pyramid of Skulls. Creates a immoblie siege weapon to defend forts. needs plenty of dead to create.

Longdead giants and trolls included. Armed little longdead and soulless

Some factions will get a few new defenders at home and a pair of archers for some factions with forts (mainly to help AI to not get snaked by snakes). EX Troll King getting a shadow tree.

3 New classes:
Kobold king: kinda of a reincarnation of the Draconian from CoE 2. Uses kobolds of five different subtypes, four of which can spawn from greater mines for a cost of gold and iron. Kobold king uses elemental gems for rituals to inculde summoing dragons.

Scourge Lord: Uses lifeforce as a resource, partly inspired by the Dark Sun setting of D&D. will use the lifeforce of allied soldiers if there is no nearby plantlife. Collects Life Force by constructing Pillars of Power which turn lush areas into deserts over time. Can summon monsters themed around decay

Cloud Lord: Air themed counterpart to the Pale Ones, starts in the Sky. shares magic with the Air warlock but more focused on the magic of Air and Storm. All recruitable troops can fly and many have magic weapons. uses gems mostly sapphires

Pale Ones will start in Agartha

Void Layout changing:
Kristoffer: Mapping the void is less useful now, since it actually changes from time to time.

Item Shopping/Crafting
Kristoffer:There is both (buying and crafting). Crafting is a bit limited though. Shop offers are dependent on the number of libraries you have IIRC.
Also there are more items, and the AI is better at distributing items (like magic boosters).
There are now magic boosters for most magic types (not just pyromancy, necromancy and a few more).

Game is out, game is good, baiting heaven and hell into a proxy war rarely gets old.
