It's Beltane down here. We just had our Labour day as an unofficial recognition. Where the fucking government decided tea and lunch breaks are something the market should decide, by which the law says you can either agree not to get a lunch break or the boss can make you not have one anyway (as long as that's "reasonable". Nice lawmaking, assholes). Like the previous one where you can either agree to your new low-wage zero-hour contract or the boss can make you take it anyway, and quitting means you lose all your benefits. Hilarious. Or the other new one where you're not an employee anyway, you're a contractor, with no holidays or anything, because you can either agree you're a contractor or the boss can make you one anyway.

We used to be a socialist country. Apparently the working poor now mostly vote for all that to keep the unemployed and impoverished just a little lower in the social order. People do vote in their own interests, their interests are just deeply perverse.

Oh, right. Happy Beltane too. Mayday, motherfucker, light some fires.

But both parties are exactly the same and the other party would obviously have passed the same laws right?

30 years ago they did far worse, so we changed our electoral system. But this isn't the politics thread, so that'll do of that.
