Unfortunately, it seems that the ogre has impressive willpower. It barely flinches from your enchantment as the monster barrels down at you. Raising its weapon into the air, your opponent swings the pillar in an arc. You dodge, but feel a shower of stone and ice chips bounce off your lower body when it impacts the floor.

The spiritual weapon nicks you, and a couple orcs miss you with javelins.

Try to trip the ogre. If successful, full attack it.

Wrapping your tail around the ogre's leg, you yank it to one side and force the monster to its knees. Then you stab it in the face, where there's no blue chainmail. Unfortunately, you miss the eyes, but it was definitely a nice couple of hits.

Roaring in agony, the ogre staggers back up and kicks you- which lets you get another couple slashes in. But the impact sends you flying backwards into a wall, bouncing painfully onto the floor.

A couple orcs interpose themselves between you and their boss.

If possible, slither up a nearby wall or column of something high enough to avoid the orcs' threat range, and then jump over them towards the ogre and attempt another trip.

You take evasive action as the orcs move to encircle you, springing up to catch a ceiling beam and swinging over their heads. The javelin throwers stop, now more likely to hit their allies than you.

Unfortunately, the ogre has used this time to cast another spell. He is coated in pulsing blue spikes, which threaten to poke you if you attack without a reach weapon. He drops a now-blank scroll to the floor and smirks.

Your opponent had not expected this move, and he gapes a moment before dropping his stone pillar and attempting to engage you with his spiked fists. Unfortunately for him, you have the edge in a close-up engagement like this. Your blades slice through the ogre's spikes and chain armor, and he struggles to be as effective with his own weapons. Your increased mass makes it too difficult for him to send you flying with one blow this time, and the orcs are too demoralized to be very effective.

Your melee is too chaotic for easy spellcasting from that point, but you manage to dispatch the ogre with over half your hit points left. As it dies, the orcs around you groan and melt into smoking puddles. It appears this was a load-bearing lieutenant.

To the south, the magical storm still rages. To the north, the path to the last solar intake is now unobstructed.

Search the ogre for goodies and then head towards the shrine.

The ogre was wearing what you quickly identify as a Ring of Protection +2. The armor is wrecked, and the pillar is nonmagical.

You head into the HIGH PRIEST'S SHRINE, and are immediately burned by the blood-red acidic rain. However, you can see a golden staff glowing and floating above the altar.

Can the pillar the ogre was using be lifted and used as an umbrella?

It's a rigid cylinder. You'd be better served covering yourself with something that drapes, or a wide and flat surface. That said, the pillar might offer your head a little protection if you held it up with both hands.

What about the ogre's armor? Is there enough of it intact to prestidigitation glue together a few parts and hold it up while in human form?

The ogre's body and armor have both melted together, but remain solid enough that you could probably use them to mostly shield yourself for at least a few rounds.

Put on the Ring of Protection and the Ogre's spiked fists if intact (should fit due to enlarge person, though they'll probably fall off later). Cast expeditious retreat and then approach it in humanoid form, using the ogre's corpse as an umbrella.

You shift into your smaller humanoid form, grab the ogre's carcass by the melting blue nubs that used to be arm spikes, and then heave its torso over you as a sort of shield against the acid raid. The corpse is bulky, and parts of it are melting or bleeding magical smoke, but you manage to stagger forward at a decent speed.

Entering the shrine, your load begins to weigh down on you even more heavily. Acid eats into corpse with a growing hiss, but your advance continues. A jolt of static runs up your legs and rattles your teeth, but when your vision clears, you've made it to the staff.

The first thing that strikes you is the sheer presence the item exudes. Sure, it's made of intricately carved gold, lavishly studded with carved emeralds and sapphires. But this close to the thing, you get the eerie sensation that's just one facet of its presence. The altar almost seems dull in comparison to the magic pulsing out of the artifact it holds up for display.

One blue gem flashes, and the pressure from above stops. It looks like the rain within a few feet of the staff has ceased, though you still see acid pouring down along the periphery of the room. The sound of the tempest seems to dim, and you get a feeling that you're being watched. Much could depend on your next action.

With the rain gone, you notice a faint scorch mark on one corner of the altar, almost washed away by the flow of acid. It's about the same size as the fiend you summoned.

Draw Tenoc's Wand and wave it around a bit. Say out loud, "I know you're watching. Could you help me out here?"

The gems on the staff all glow brightly, and it floats up an inch over the altar. Still, [Religion] you know that there are many lesser spirits that serve Tlaloc, some of which are bound into this temple, some of which are not conventionally intelligent. Since this a weapon of war, currently sealed away, there is probably some ritual that needs to be performed to claim it.

You don't know how the high priest appeased the guardian spirits in this shrine, but perhaps you could improvise? The wand will probably help.

Put on the Goz mask if it isn't equipped already. Use one of the ceremonial knives to drop some blood on the altar. Use gust of wind via the fan on the altar (completely forgot about that. Might have tried it on the acid rain.) and then fire a lightning bolt via the wand, targeting the spilled blood.

The tension grows in the air. It feels like dozens of spiritual rules lawyers are frantically bickering over trivia in an attempt to justify something. As your lightning strikes the new blood on the altar, it turns blue and then shows an image of the drowned woman in the northeastern solar intake.

Her voice burbles up, slightly distorted by the magic. "Oh wow, this is going to be tricky. But don't worry, I'm on your side here! Ahem, Supplicant, I require you to answer me three questions. Uuuh... One! Tlaloc is great, right? This mess... isn't really his fault, right? And three, you want to take up this staff to fix the problems here, am I correct?"

You get the strong impression that if some of the guardian spirits had offices, they would be crying and banging their heads against their desks right now.

"Then it is my pleasure to declare you High Priest of Rain. Congratulations!"

The staff snaps into your hands, and a torrent of divine power flows into you. You have gained 2 levels!

You have gained full access to the Water and Weather domains (and +2 caster level on the domain spells if you cast them)!

While holding the staff, you can use the following Spell-Like Abilities (Caster Level 10):
At will: Call Lightning, Control Water, Obscuring Mist, Fog Cloud, Water Breathing
3/day: Control Weather, Control Winds, Elemental Body IV (water only), Storm of Vengeance, Whirlwind

While holding the staff, as a Full-Round Action, you may attempt to command the obedience of certain monsters that serve Tlaloc. This is always successful when used on ahuizotls.

(Sure. If there's a contradiction between the rule sets, I'll probably default to PF rules though.)
