Sandbox/Open World games

I -finally- got Dishonored back from the person I loaned it to, and discovered I'd lost all momentum to play the story.

So I started over.

Holy shit.

This game is amazing when you go back with the perspective and experience of what to look for.

I just looked at the clock and realized I'd spent an hour or more wandering the central area in the first time there--going around the pub, checking every nook and cranny, and talking to all the inhabitants to see what they had to say.

I feed off this stuff, which is sorta why I have to avoid Elder Scrolls games.

It just gets too much to keep track of and I'll faff about forever, investigating junk. Dishonored cuts down on the amount of "what's over there" enough for me--it still rewards exploration, but also doesn't flood me with quests and areas to explore.

So hats off to Bethesda, for giving me -just enough- screwing around on this one.

This, except for me it isn't have but should avoid TES but I fail miserably. I've been going through oblivion trying to finish up EVERYTHING. It's ridiculous and I'll probably stop again but still.

I finished everything in Oblivion in a couple of days.

'Course, I have the computer version, so I can mod this everloving fuck out of it and make it interesting still.

Ohh man, you should (or probably shouldn't) see some of the mods I've downloaded on their.

I'm still on Dishonored.

This game is a great timewaster for me. I can spend an hour exploring houses and getting looting and knocking out guards so I can put them all in the same bed in the most homoerotic positions I can think of.

I know it actually doesn't, but I can only imagine that five guards will be a bit troubled if they all wake up in a Great Big Pile of Gay(TM).

Anyway. Now on the way to kidnap Sokolov the scientist

Well, since you are obviously aiming for the good ending, maybe they are actually relieved and thankful for someone to break the ice and reveal their hidden desires for each other.
Then gay sex galore.

Actually, that would be nice. Perhaps they could become Dunwalls first gay pride group. God knows that place could use some rainbow colored flags.

As for the thread topic: I long have given up the fight. I simply try to parcel my intake in therapeutic doses.

Also, you might want to give Guild Wars 2 a wide berth. They have actual completion scores for secret locations found and vistas visited.

I'm not so much aiming for the good ending as I'm not killing people willy-nilly.

Besides, I found a bone charm called Strong Arms that gives the description of "choke someone out faster".

As in, about a second. If I'm quick, I can hit Time Stop and choke two people standing next to each other before it ends.

I've been playing Skyrim.

A lot.

I'm lost.

I have a kitted-out house from Hearthfire, and just realized what I'll do my next playthrough:

See, your manor houses in Hearthfire can get a steward. You can recruit most any follower as a steward.

The regions which give you manor houses also now supply bodyguards--who, when told to go away, will head back to their corresponding manor and hang around in case of attack.

And you can get married to someone else, and move them to the region.

The major drawback (besides being a time/resource sink, although you can have every crafting thing) is it being a common place to get attacked by stuff.

And I just realized you can potentially have three high-level asskickers walking around, plus you and a follow. So my next playthrough on Skyrim, if there is one, I'm going to put four housecarls around the place--spouse, steward, and regional housecarl. And then have a housecarl as a follower.

Go on. Attack Lakeview Manor. Make my fucking day. I could use the new souls.

Lakeview will be the prettiest Unassailable Fortress of Vampiric Might, ever.

This seems like a non-sequitur from the rest of your cool idea about the manor (why next playthrough instead of this one?). What's this about? In what way are you lost?

I'm hooked on the game.

I've spent YEARS avoiding Elder Scrolls games and now I have to grit my teeth and very carefully dose myself on it so I don't actually get addicted.

And next playthrough? Well, I'd have to get a LOT of thanes, and move the wife there...It's possible.

But mostly, I like the house I'm at a lot more than the other locations.

All three heartfire options are:

1) Foresty hill with a view of a lake. It is beautiful, and all is beautiful, and the lake glimmers and the hunting is plentiful and the view off the porch is gorgeous. It is a good place, and the gods smile down upon it.

2) Edge of a frozen swamp with mudcrabs, and MurderDeathRape monsters.

3) Halfway up a mountain and it looks cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey
