Okay, so the first Diceman story was a certain kind of mad genius, but also deeply flawed as an actual game. Is the second one any better?

Short answer: Yes, with a but.

Long answer: It still suffers from being short, specifically it remains quite railroady. However, it has at least three new things in its favor. First, it does a new thing integrating the graphic element into the gameplay; specifically, there are visual clues to direct choices that would be blind if one only went by the text. Second, it is amazingly similar to the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, despite coming out three years before that movie did, so that's cool.

Third, it includes the finest choice ever provided in all of interactive fiction:

So are you going to start it up, or are you just going to leave us that one choice out of context, and have us make up our own story?

Also, that is amazing. Do all of the Diceman stories have to do with Nazis, even tangentially?

I suggest we roll again, The Key sucked last time and I can't imagine the powers of persuasion would be particularly useful against Nazi zombies.

The second roll is 5: The Lightning. In the last adventure, that got you Astragal as if you'd rolled The Guardian. In this one...?

In the last book, dissing the BBEG worked really well for some reason.

But apparently Himmler is savvier than that.

Die roll 6, 11 Physical remaining. Looks like you just have to pick the right person to taunt for mixed benefit. Also, the lower right panel which I (mostly) redacted has two interactions with other panels - Killjoy's baton goes into it, and Himmler's hat which you can still see the top of comes out of it. It's a comics technique with several uses, though I'm not sure exactly what the artist was going for in this case.

So, one of the things they did to save space was just shift some events to little bits of text like this. A bit cheap, but it does seem to have kept several choices from being 'forward, or death?' like in the last story.

What the previous choice didn't communicate that it should have, is that once we enter the cave, we are now supposed to be following clues from the poem. The roots were the sign of the oak that we were supposed to follow. So check the poem out (second spoiler, post 4 of this thread) before choosing what to do here.
Also, this section is apparently not multiple choice, but short answer.
