I'm pretty sure there are no required races in Neverwinter, but there are the usual "the best race for wizard is tiefling or human" type things.

So Wizard = Tiefling or Human
Fighter = ?
Rogue = ?
Ranger = ?
Cleric = ?

Or is it selfevident?

Patching should be finished soon.
I'll take the sexiest looking race and an class which is hopefully compatibel.
If I look at the behind of the char for hours she better has an good looking ass.

WTF rolling dice for attributes?

Oh, it only looks random, it's prerolled basically...

It's not hard to get stats in stuff that matters. I think it's actually some form of point buy, given how many times I saw a 15 in something go down and and another stat went up.

Anyway.

-Each race will sort of fall into their default 'optimized' class. Which is nice and all, but there are some alternatives. Like half-orcs make for pretty good rogues.

Yes, it's actually the 4E point-buy system, but randomly determined (and then the numbers are assigned to the best spread for that character). Re-roll it until you get a set you like.

4E certainly does have "This class needs this race", but Neverwinter, not so much. Basically, some racial traits synergise well with some classes, and the ability score bonus is...

Basically, subtract 10 from each score. The remainder is applied as a final percentage modifier on certain things. So a Con of 14 adds +4% to your HP. Sometimes the percentage isn't (Stat-10)*1, it might be *0.5 or *2.

A lot of these are the same no matter what you are. However, certain classes get slightly different bonuses (IIRC the Rogue adds some Int to their "combat advantage" (flanking) bonus). And most importantly, each class uses a specific stat for their Power/Damage.

Fighters probably want to be Dwarf or Half-Orc, or maybe Human.
Rogues want to be a flavour of Elf (almost any), or Tiefling perhaps. Possibly Halfling?
Rangers, I have no idea.
The best choice for Cleric is probably Wood Elf, but there are a few others that aren't bad.

I might have some freebie loot if you're interested. I think I've got a couple of things for rangers. Send a friend request to @Regemor and I'll try to hook you up.

So I've gotten or sent friend requests to...

Koumei/@SisterAcaaaacia
Sir Neil/@HamiltonOmega
Maxus/@Regemor
Korwin/@Korwin

Have I missed anyone?

(I seriously only logged in just now to take care of this. I haven't been able to do much on the game recently)

It took you 10 levels to learn how to use a bow and a sword? This game sounds better and better :-p

Level 10 hits very quickly. Even level 15 is pretty...close, and that's when you can start PMing people and junk.

So far, I'm liking it. I'm level 18 and still got the sword I did when I was level 12, but I'm making do.

Oh, another guild name idea I had was "The Murder Hobos."

We should schedule a time to all be in Protector's Enclave to start the guild if we want to actually do that

Kay. I'm at GMT -6. As I type this, it is 8:13 my time, if that'll help anyone figure the time zones.

Edit: Murder Hobos isn't bad. I suppose we could get too big for our britches and call ourselves the Overlords. Or invite wrath and call ourselves the Denizens

Look forward to level 20: you get to wear a fucking hat! And gloves!

As for the lockboxes, the keys cannot be found in-game. You have to buy them: 125 Zen for 1, or 1125 Zen for 10. So that's $1.25 or ~45K astral diamonds for a single key.

If you have no intention of doing that bullshit, I suggest selling them to vendors.

This is not a good week for me. In an auto collision yesterday while working 16 hours, hit my head and pulled my neck falling on the ice today, and between the storm and drill, I don't expect to get a day off until Tuesday.

Ow, man. Take care of yourself. I got really lucky today and had a rock-solid reason for being unable to come into work--they have some roads outright closed around me such that a thirty minute drive/hour-long busride would have been...oh...an hour and a half.

Aaand hit level 20. Sweet! Earlier I spent almost a gold buying a bunch of blue-level gear in preparation for this.

Welp, I hit level 30 and chose my paragon path (the fire one, I've heard a power or two in storm sucks).

I'm kind of disappointed I never got the swashbuckler companion from the last event, but I've done some of the Challenge of the Gods stuff--Oghma's is a joke (3 dailies in 5 min) at least as a CW. Some of the others are difficult, but you can do them.

I should try the PVP and Dungeon stuff too, probably will later.

I beat all of the challenges, because that's how I roll. And now almost all my gear is celestial-dyed. Which is almost a shame, as I liked the way it was all dyed Sunite style (see: pink and purple) before.

Okay, as far as I care I've won the game: I hit level sixty and did most of the solo postgame stuff, and while I do indeed give a fuck about the multiplayer aspect, it's an angry fuck. A hatefuck if you will.

So between getting bored with it, getting pissed off with it, and the lag really shitting me*, I think I'm going to call it quits.

Is there some way that people can sell their accounts to these things? I mean, level 60, mostly Epic (Purple) gear, level 30 companions, +3 Mount, most of the Epic Boons, that could be useful to the Chinese farmers or something?

Failing that, I'm willing to just give my Neverwinter/Perfect World account away to anyone who wants it.

*They really need to just fork up for another server. Preferably one that contains America. They could then have "America" (strictly quarantined) and "Rest of the world".

We still haven't gotten together to form the Koumei Appreciation Society yet. We need to set a time for that first.

I've decided to just enjoy the game by not dicking around with Dungeon Delves, not giving a shit about the Daily stuff, and instead just mass-crafting stuff to auction for diamonds and running about low-level areas to help people out when needed.

So just flipping the game off and ignoring responsibilities regarding the fate of the world has made things a lot more fun. One day we could all do that as a team (or I could babysit you all I suppose).

Sounds like what I eventually did in WoW. XD

Except I'd run daily dungeons with my friends, then just dick around.
