<shrug> It's the basic mechanic behind a bookmaker. If you bet on a horse or anything like that, it's pretty much the same exact thing. The only difference here is using derivatives and short-selling...which are just a different kind of bet, when you get down to it.

Todays' Unpublishable is inspired by an incident I read recently in a biography. The resulting one-act play is "Nights in August." http://www.the-unpublishable.com/2011/1 ... ugust.html

Not sure who still reads these things, but today on the Unpublishable we have an excerpt from an account of war, Chapter XII: http://www.the-unpublishable.com/2012/0 ... r-xii.html

If anyone can guess the source of this, you win.

Today on the Unpublishable is a modern supernatural fantasy: "A Fearsome and Bloody Saint." http://www.the-unpublishable.com/2012/0 ... saint.html

I'm not sure I'm going to keep up the weekly schedule past a year. I have a whole folder full of story ideas, but I get almost no feedback, so I don't know if more than one or two people ever read these damn things.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

There's a page-count thingy, but looking at it gets depressing.
