Deliniating/Describing Factions/Species: Heartbreaker

Post by Judging__Eagle »

The main reason why most people don't give a shit about your setting is because the monsters don't really generate any sorts of ideas beyond "this monster is causing shit". Anything beyond that requires the MC to create either tiny organizations of a single monster and their minions; or some (usually) badly ad hoc'ed nation of necromancers, where no statted NPC can actually raise an army in the thousands, but do so via MC-fiat.

In general I'll be taking material from:

-The Fantasy Kitchen Sink Writeup
-Historical regions of ancient cultures, empires, kingdoms
-Evolutionary record of creatures
-Cultural relationships between people of the same region

The Globals

-Cambion [Template, grow forehead Horns, gain appearance changes]
-Drow [Carbon and Silicone adapted, photovoltaic skin (silicone is the prime ingredient in solar cells); the globes Blacksmithing is conducted by Drow, which makes them refined Katana smiths, or Norse blade-smiths; good fit to the original myths]
-Dwarf [Dvergr, potentially Cthonic]
-Elf [Alfar: ambulatory plants, split into Alfar, Entlings, Trolls (Carnivorous, Think Blanka]
-Gith [Nomadic humanoids; live in extreme climate regions, Australian Aboriginals, Laplanders, Inuit, Bedouin, Apache, in general, they are best described as "custom-made humanoids". Gith, live in hostile environments in order to avoid scrutiny, like Zombie Apocaplyse surviors. Gith are on "apocalypse survival mode" all the time, they are the Classic Foil of Krakenspawn and other Cthululians; basically]
-Gnome [I want to use the red cone hat version, but making them Clever steam-punk badger (and other burrowing creature) peoples (including rabbits, weasels, ferrets, wombats, gophers, meerkats, prarie dogs, and mole rats)]
-Goblin []
-Golem [Robotian: Various forms: From Chester 5000 to C3-P0, Astro-Boy to Der Golem of Prague]
-Halfling [Burahobbit]
-Hobgoblin []
-Human [Yahoo]
-Kobold [Kobalt]
-Ork [Uruk]

The Land

The Woods
Alfar
-Alfar [omnivorous(cannibalistic) plant people]
-Ent [vegetarian, vegetative, pacifist]
-Troll [carnivorous, antagonistic]

Races of Doppleganger

Based on the human evolutionary record, which includes:

-Burahobbits [Short, fast metabolism, Fantasy Kitchen Sink write-up, National Geographic]
-Yahoos [the term from Gulliver's Travels for the stinking, shit-flinging, uneducated hordes]
-Uruks [Neanderthals]
-Ogres [Cro-magnon hominids]
-Oni [advanced Ogres that have magic powers]

Goblinoids

-Hobgoblins [Orange, Stoic, Warrior caste: Legionarres, Samurai, Zulu, Songha Knights, French Chevaliers, Saxon Shield-bearers, American Marines]
-Goblins [Orange, humorous foil to above; greek merchants, yakuza, Wild Pygmy men, French Peasantry, Angle-Archers, US Marine Staff]
-Bugbears [Think Chewbacca, if more bear-like, more pronounced muzzle, longer ears; remove anything remotely resembling passivness]
-Bakemono [As above, applied to Ewoks, just as vicious as Bugbears]
-Dire Bears [Fully grown Bugbears, walks bipedally or marches quardepedally]
-Dai Bakemono [Tall goblin, giant-sized, fiendish [two horns]

Beneath the Seas and Skies

Kraken and their Spawk: Cthuluians & Cthulii

-Aboleths [Paleolithic Krakenspawn]
-Skum [Converted Humanoids]
-Cthulu [Advanced, enlarged, Krakenspawned, Kuo-Toa]
-Kuo-Toa
-Half Kuo-Toa
-Kraken
-Intelligent Squid [Immature forms, treat as Awakened Squid, continue Advancing until Gargantuan
-Illithid [Template, none of this "Illithids are made from humans" species-centric BS]
-Chuul [Tentacled version of Linxia, Paralyzing Face Tentacles]
-Chokers [Four Tentacle limbs? Yeah, it's a Kraken-spawn]
