After accidentally posting this in the IMHO, let's start over...

Along the lines of "hip music..." and "What books...", I figured another topic can be started about the stuff we watch.

I'm a huge netflix fan. I've had them since almost three months after the company started and aside form one four-month lapse for lack of money, I don't think I've ever let it go. Nor do I plan to as it takes the place of cable tv in our house.

Over the last couple of days, I've watched "Breathless" and "A woman is a woman" by Jean luc Goddard. Aside from this, I've also watched Akira Kurosawa's "Ikiru" which was actually not that great compared to his other movies.

My wife and I are also watching the third season of "the Wire" (at a very slow pace) and have recently discovered "Top shot." "Top shot's" reality tv melodrama really doesn't interest me but the awesome trick shots performed are just plain...well...awesome. Some of the shots are shooting a rifle at a target behind you using only a handheld mirror. Hammering in nails at 50 ft using a pistol. It's a pretty cool show for a reality show.

The Wire is really good. I watched the whole thing a while back, at the rate of a season per day.

Recently I watched more or less all of QI seasons A through H on Youtube. And then overshot the 100Gb bandwidth limit in a week. So no more of that until we rise up and overthrow Telstra. Fellow Australians, who is with me on seizing the infrastructure of our country and returning it to the hands of the people?

On TV, all I watch is Good News Week.

What have I been watching? The Boondocks, Reno 911, MST3K, Freaked, Doraleous & Associates, and pretty much all of the videos on The Escapist.

No Reservations and Mushi Shi on Netflix.

Lately? I pretty much quit TV about a year or two ago. I used to watch Law and Order SVU and Heroes, but I've lost interest in both (and Heroes got canceled).

As far as movies go, the last one I watched was Machete. That movie is cool as hell so long as you go into it not taking it too seriously. Other than that, I tend to catch most movies a while after they come out on DVD. About all I watch in theaters anymore is the Harry Potter series, mostly out of a habit of my wife and me taking my father-in-law to go.

I also loves me some Netflix. I'm currently watching "Castle"...just finished the first season. Nathan Fillion is fucking awesome.

After that, I'm going to start watching "Law & Order" from the beginning...I watch a lot of L&O on TV, but these days they mostly show the newer episodes, and I hate Mike Cutter (douchebag). I didn't like everybody on the early shows, but Logan and Robinette were great.

I also need to order the "Nana" anime, since I just got back into the manga and I want to actually hear the JPunk music.

Finally...I discovered that "Jeopardy" is on right when I get home from work, so I started watching that again. And I accidentally watched an episode of "Adventure Time", and I may have to see some more of that...it looked pretty interesting.

No Netflix here, but Justified and Fringe are l33t.

Been keeping up on the Cape through the internet, and going through Batman the Animated Series, since I've been on a Batman kick and never saw a lot of it as a kid.

I know I'm really late here, but I've finally started watching Arrested Development, and it's really, really funny.

Anyone who doesn't watch Community is dead to me.

Been watching the Starz Channel Spartacus mini-series on Netflix. You'd be surprised how quickly you can get used to near-constant bloody violence and nudity. Good story too.

Yeah, "Spartacus" is nice. It is very strange. I hate the sort of Ultra-violence and nudity that Spartacus embodies. But, damn, I like Spartacus.

There must be at least one person who is watching something pornographic. No exceptions.

GF has me watching True Blood, which is basically HBO's attempt at vampire porn.

It's not the unmitigated abomination of Twilight...but still bad, bad, bad.

Through the magic of DVR, my wife and I watch Glee, L&O:SVU, L&O:LA, L&O:UK, The Cape (Not 100% sold on this one), Burn Notice, House, and Lie To Me.

Wow, fbmf, there is some remarkable overlap in our viewing preferences. I'm not a huge fan of Glee or House, but the rest are DVRed. I'm not sold on The Cape yet, either.

I also really enjoy White Collar, Chuck, Fairly Legal, and am currently working my way through the first couple of seasons of The Tutors.

Our cable is in transition, though. To save money, we bought a Roku. It will drop about $50/month in the next couple of months, and $75/month after that. Go smaller bills!

Not even my worship of Summer Glau can get me to watch more of the cape. That shit is terribly cheesy, and boring.

But I do have to say that John Rhys-davies is the penultimate scifi/fantasy bit part player.

I don't have cable (and don't intend to get it again), but I own all three seasons of Metalocalypse on DVD, and am awaiting the next season when it comes out next holiday season.

And to answer a previous assertion: I used to rent adult DVD's on occasion, but lately it hasn't been in the budget. I could rent an adult movie for $8, or I can rent 8 non-porn movies for $8 at the redbox. It's a pretty easy choice.

Yeah, that movie was pretty terribad...but the concept of cave-batman was kind of hilarious anyway.

I'm pretty sure the librarian would kick me out of the library for looking at porn. I'm technically not even allowed to do this, college computers are supposed to be just for schoolwork (although only 1 person in the lab is using the computers for such).

I don't have internet access at my apartment and have decided to not get it again, too expensive.

Watching "SUperman/Shazam: return of Black adam."

It's made of four features.

The first is a 30 minute origin story of capt marvel and then he and SUperman take on Black adam. This was okay. It wasn't bad and it wasn't great.

The second feature was ten minutes long called "The spectre."

It's a noir take on the alter ego being a retribution spirit and also a detective. Really this just seemed like a sanitized snuff flick. It wasn't at all great.

The third feature was another 10 minute long called "Green arrow."

Now this was pretty good. It really shows Green arrow's rakish charm, his many different sort of trick arrows and also his inability to do any fighting. There was a long drawn out fight in an airport where you see this and also how he finally overcame the odds by just smashing the guy with his bow at one point. Also it shows him being saved by Black Canary.

Black Canary also had one of the worst cornball lines ever. "Geez, you gotta mouth on you!"

This feature also turned out to have the right amount of sentiment by having Green arrow propose to Black Canary.

The last and final feature was the best of the bunch. A 10-minute short called "Jonah Hex." Hex has always been one of my favorite characters because he has that western gritty and grim persona that even in the past wasn't watered down. The short shows him as just another bounty hunter/cowboy with a torn up face. The short was also surprisingly mature in its views on sexuality and violence. I mean it was still tamed down in that nothing is shown but it was still very suggestive.

That is probably one of the best lines ever.

So in order of bad to good, it was "The specter", "Shazam", "Green Arrow", and "Jonah Hex."

I was a bit surprised with the quality of this series. The recent DCAU films/features have really been lackluster. But this was good.

I'm not a fan of Morrison's All-Star Superman. Not because it isn't good, just because it's not my taste. I just saw the animated version, and it is extremely faithful, if necessarily truncated. The awesomeness quotient is quite high.

I've decided to start watching "Alias." I remember watching an episode when it was first on and just thinking about how hot Jennifer Garner was. I still think about how she is. But now I'm trying to watch it. I'm slowly getting through the first episode due to just numerous real-world interruptions but it has a very good pace and the music selection in the first episode is just awesome.

So I finally decided to see it. I've read a couple of the issues and I don't care if the movie was faithful to all 12 issues of the comic. I mean, I kinda do actually.

Because 70 minutes is not a time to tell twelve stories in a giant series of stories that somehow tie together. The movie really is hit or miss.

Overall, I think I would like 55 minutes of my time back. I will not deny parts of it were not cool but to stuff a comic mythos along with all the pop culture that surrounds into 70 minutes is retarded. In fact, it goes against almost all advice given as to how to construct a story. I understand that Morrison loves his mega-series and the vague pseudo-philosophic I'm breaking the 4th wall wank. You could almost say that by including so much in a 70 hr movie, he was trying to tell us that its all fake. Sorry, folks. I just took away one hour of your day away.

God damn it. Why are they fucking up the beautiful Dc-animated unjiverse that was the Suberman/Batman series and some of the JLA.
