Honestly, all the 12 step programs are the same. So it's really more about joining a cult that will coddle you into the 12 steps.

My domme and I had a friend over for some booze and vidjya games. After conversing after she had left we found out that we were both trying to play wingman to get the other laid, lol. Unfortunately neither of us are actually that great at getting chicks.

I don't know if I've mentioned this, Count, but you don't have normal problems.

I think that's been the only consistent quality of my life, not having normal problems.

So I did the last "lap" (60k distance and 5k climbing) of a mountain ultramarathon as a support runner.

Had to pull out just before getting them home, because it turns out looking after someone else and dealing with their problems all day makes it easy to forget to look after yourself. Mild case of hyponatremia and hypovolemia, which is basically low blood pressure (resting 100/90 at 99 bpm) that the body can no longer compensate for because your blood salts are too low, promoting stress, anxiety, confusion, loss of balance, not talk good, and will eventually get very bad and kill you if you don't stop.

So I'm happy I stopped, and that I totally kept my runner from getting there because she was in a bad way when we set off after her first 100k. Big Grin

But completely awesome, I have always loved getting up high on hills and mountains, getting big views, and that day was three tracks up a lovely mountain with views of pretty much everything. The sore foot is getting a bit tedious after four days rest, though it's a handy reminder just how hard that was and just how much rest I really need. Big Grin

Still, I'm sure the 12-hour mountain bike ride in a week will be fine. I'm pretty sure I won't be forgetting the electrolytes again, and this time I have the support. What's the worst that could possibly happen.

I made it to the second interview for a comic/coffee shop opening in my town! Last Saturday I went to my first interview and was kind of concerned that my decision to wear a nerd tshirt and open Dickies workshirt over it* was a bad one, but I guess it went over fine!

*based on one of the owners wearing a t shirt with the Star Wars opening crawl on it for her photo in the newspaper article about the store.

Most I've ever run is like... 5k I think on flat ground, sounds like a scenic exercise.

comics + coffee sounds pleasant. Is it like you buy coffee and get to read comics too? That model is popular in Taiwan, Japan, probably Korea and China too.

Customer Service sucks, it really does. I have noticed that being a delivery driver for a pizza place, while still technically a customer service job, is a lot less terrible. Because people see you as completely divorced from the guy on the phone and the guy in the kitchen, and you're just the schmuck delivering their food. Even though it's entirely likely you took their order and made their order before delivering it.

The most important thing I've learned about customer service is that a customer yelling at you means two things: things are going badly for them, and they're the kind of shitsack who deserves things to go badly for them. I sometimes feel bad when things are obviously going poorly for someone who doesn't deserve it, but customers yelling at me while I'm unable/unwilling to make things easier brings me the purest joy the world can provide. Also, laughing at them with management as soon as the customer leaves.

So I guess, be polite without helping them more than you would customers you don't hate, then laugh at their suffering when they're gone.

I wish my mother-in-law understood this. She constantly is making life more difficult for herself by treating other people like crap. And she doesn't get it. She doesn't get the fact that the people charge her more and nickel and dime her for their services because she nit picks everything they do. They don't want you as a customer, lady, and so they will charge you as much as they can. And if you still need their services, they'll get a little extra for their misery. And if you don't and you go elsewhere... WINNER!!

Back when i was still working in a little pc shop, we had a little something called idiot/ass tax.
depending on how a customer acted towards us, we'd increase / decrease prices on a % basis.
I think the max we did was something like a 400% price increase when somebody told us he knew what to do better than we did, he just could not be arsed to do it himself. And do you want to know what he wanted done?
A replacement for the cup-holder of his computer. The retractable one. It broke when he placed a too heavy mug on it. No, i am not shitting you, people are, or at least were, really that dumb. The part i am referring to was, of course, a tray-loaded CD-Drive. Mugholder in idiot-speak. Usually, they went for about 30Ä, so we took 120 from him. But to be fair, he DID get a heavy duty one that should have been able to hold a bit more than the flimsy one he had in there before.

Right now, i do Techsupport for Vodafone Corporate Customers, administrating a country wide virtual voip based PBX. And it is usually world of a difference for exactly 2 reasons:
a.) usually, we do NOT have to deal with CEOs and other people who think they are important or with secretaries who have no idea that they are not important AND don't know shit about the problems they are trying to make us solve for them. Usually, we deal with bastards like us that open talks with:"listen, not your fault probably, but management is breathing down my neck for this stupidity that is happening here right now and i need to tell them something." i had one straight up tell me to make something up that would not get either of us in trouble just to get both of us some more hours or if needed days of breathing space to actually fix what was broken.
b.) Even IF we have to deal with a CEO or secretary who does not know that they are unimportant even to us, they usually just see the numbers and do not want any marketing nonsense of pretty phrases but to get shit done so they can work again. Which is basically the only reaction i respect from such people. "Fix it, don't care how, don't care what you need to circumvent, i do not want any traces of this problem ever existing, just do it" < = carte blanche for anything is such a nice thing to have.

It was so much worse doing Techsupport for basic private customers.
I have learned pretty fast to simply disconnect a call if the caller is screaming at me, because i am not complaint management nor am i de-escalation personnel. There are other people for that. Being IT means you are thought of as the lowest rung in the ladder for some reason, but it also gives so so much more power over things. It was way easier back when there were some horrible systemic problems with the supplied hardware though. But still, when somebody acts up on me i not so kindly remind them that they want me to help them and screaming at people who can decide how, if at all, the internet connection is going to be fixed is not the smartest thing to do.

I understand these things are, for some reason or other, completely different in the land of the limited impossibilities . . And in face to face service especially retail it is much more horrible, i know that too. I had that experience as well, when working for a bigger electronics store chain.
And yes, you often need to really really really bite down on your tongue, lips or just teeth to not tell somebody to vacate his or her position of being able to dillute the genepool in a creative manner.

Having rough times at work. I've decided that these are the permanent type of rough times and I should seek employment elsewhere. This is always annoying for me because my mannerisms and speech patterns are off-putting and it's very hard for me to impress people enough to hire me. Very frustrating sometimes.

EDIT: There's actually a union associated with my profession and they do have a headquarters literally within walking distance from my house. Since I don't see that I'm going to have a job (either because of the downsizing recently or the fact that they basically told everyone they lost their schedule and now have to fight over the shifts they have left, or the fact that I'm weighing the pros and cons of pooping on the hood of the company president's car) it might be lulzworthy because they're going to pay to have unionbusters come in and crap. I wonder if any of my coworkers are at the point of not giving fucks enough to kamikaze over this. Then again I couldn't convince my closest allies that the sky is blue and water is wet due to my atrocious verbal skills, I might be doing this alone.

I don't know, I'm rambling because I'm angry and scared and in a very vulnerable financial situation (ran up over twenty grand in medical bills to find out that I have an arrhythmia and a autoimmune disease, neither of which my doctors want to treat so I have to deal with randomly passing out sometimes). And everyone else in my life has it so much worse than me and really can't give two deep fried shits about my issues.

So for Hallowe'en this year, I'm thinking of dressing one of the life-size skeletons up in a tattered Spider-Man costume and hanging him from the web in front of the house. Only question is...classic red-and-blue, or back in black?

Why not both? Have a whole array of spider-men trapped in a web.

Red-and-blue, definitely.

Some friends and I are thinking of being Tech-priests. We'll wear red and some fancy-looking gizmos and move around as a unit fixing people's shit. One person will do the fixing while the others chant the Gospel of Saint Crankshaft and burn incense.

If budget allows, o'course

Well, one of my fictional stories has been cited as real again. (NSFW) This is what I get for doing my homework.
