Generally.

Ash has been 10 for a long, long time. I blame Dialga.

EDIT: 17 years. 0_0

I've been playing Castlevania: Mirror of Fate.

It isn't that great, but there is a detail that made me want to fist-bump the gamemakers when I got to the part where you play as Alucard:

Alucard's a vampire. When he drops into water, it mentions how he doesn't need to breathe so he can swim underwater indefinitely.

And it's awesome that they thought of that.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

--The horror of Mario

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

They're supposed to be 10-12ish, but Ash's voice has dropped. It really strikes me like they've moved well into 15-ish territory. Although some of the new characters do seem younger than that, back in the 10-12 range again.

And their target audience is ten year old boys. So it works out.

If I recall correctly, Misty was 15, with Jesse and James being 17. May was probably ~10. I don't know about any other girls, though what's her name the B/W dragon gym leader who became an Ash groupie in the anime was like 7.

I was rewatching Spectacular Spider-man with my nephew. Man that series is awesome.

The Symbiote (Peter's asleep the whole time) vs the Sinister Six (Vulture, Rhino, Sandman, Electro, Shocker and Doctor Octopus): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLXyoIcKRzA

Oh, yeah, those threads.

I had the opposite reaction to that series. Instead of being something funny and quirky and satirical, it just ended up degenerating into a juvenile blood/shit/meme/blasphemy/grimdark snickerfest. Like watching Violence Jack with a laugh track and after all of the characters took laxatives. Absolutely pathetic.

Your freedom to add and change rules in the middle of the game is in direct conflict with my ability to understand that rules system before I decided whether or not to join your game.

In short, your entire post is dismissive of not merely my intelligence, but my agency. And I don't mean agency as a player within one of your games, I mean my agency as a person. You do not want me to be informed when I make the fundamental decisions of deciding whether to join your game or buying your rules system.

Opposite of what? I see the series as an MC desperately trying to salvage a collective game where they're getting really lame suggestions. And here, they manage to divert a good half of the posts that would otherwise be about effluvium into marginally better jokes about death panels and wiretapping.

I'm curious exactly what your friend did to combine Lovecraft with Ellison. Could you get more specific? Also a Dr. of African-American studies who is a Lovecraft fan is probably the platonic example of being aware of something problematic's flaws but loving it anyway.
One of the early scenarios we played through, to give you an example, was a variant on the Innsmouth routine: deep ones secretly control a settlement of some kind (in our case a big, urbanized city). From what I understand, the original version of Innsmouth had the deep ones interbreeding with humans in order to reproduce, representing Lovecraft's fear of miscegenation. In our campaign, they were instead able to turn humans into other deep ones. That will be important in just a minute. Because they were in charge (the mayor, the city council, the police chief, etc.), they were able to zone the city accordingly, and most of the deep ones lived in expensive luxury housing while the humans were relegated to a couple cramped, low-income, low-maintenance sectors of the city. They were generally used for unskilled labor that the deep ones didn't want to bother themselves with - factory work, repairs, occasional sacrifices to Dagon, etc.

From what we, the party, learned from the locals, every once in a while a human would show potential and stand out, and then they had a chance to get out of the slums - but in order to be accepted, they would have to undergo the transformation into a deep one (a literal form of social assimilation). Because the deep ones had it so good, a lot of the humans wanted to become one, and by the time we went to investigate the city it was to the point where plenty of people would happily cut their fellow man's throat if it meant getting transformed (or if they felt like that person had something that would get them noticed). The unreachable opportunities, plus all the poverty and low income, meant that human sectors were plagued with crime and human-on-human violence, which in turn validated the deep one stereotypes about barbarism and heathens and so on, and encouraged them to bring in the police and crack down heavily.

That particular scenario was actually a lot less supernatural-based than it sounds; we spent almost all of it dealing with humans. A deep one HOA wanted to gentrify their sector and make room for new-transformation housing, pushing all the inhabitants into another human sector and crowding it to the point where there would probably be riots. So of course there were collaborators who were trying to help bring this about in hopes of getting transformed as a reward, and trying to steer the human community towards self-relocating, etc.

We also spent most of it just talking to people. There wasn't a lot of going insane or pitched gunfights with eldritch entities or anything - the 'final boss' was our attempt to get a human elected to the city council.

I rather liked my character concept for the recent unsuccessful 3.5 one-shot. It was Velvetpaws, the group sorcerer's cat familiar. To anyone but the sorcerer, he was very clearly a scruffy guy wearing cheap felt cat ears; the sorcerer would insist her beloved familiar was turned into a human by a rival but Velvetpaws ("Just call me Val. Please.") was pretty certain he was just lying low from the local thieves' guild after a botched job and had luckily found the one person in the world who was worse at recognizing a disguise than he was at disguising. But then again, dude could climb and jump like nobody else and had a tendency towards acting disaffected and going after small enemies so who knows, really.

The SA LP of Fire Emblem 7 Romhacks has recently gotten on the LP archive. I am partial to Different Dimensions Ostian Princess because it's hard to know whether to laugh or cry.
THERE IS NO END TURN COMMAND.

None. You can't end your turns without moving every unit, and you have to play the game with 'autoend turns' on. If that option didn't exist, we'd have been stuck in the prologue for eternity.

I... why? How? How did this happen? I didn't even know it was possible to remove menu commands like that! Like, FEGirls added some, but I didn't know you could surgically remove END TURN from the game. What? Why? Was this an accident? If so, how do you not notice and fix it? If it was on purpose, then why? I don't... help...

BBC's Top Gear segment where Richard Hammond drove the Mercedes G63 in UAE was awesome. Getting pulled over proved his point (and the police cars!!), driving in the waterpark was hysterical, and as much as deserts and my hair don't get along - it was beautiful.

I know it's lampooning Synnibar, but it kind of makes me want to mod FATAL into the RHPS of gaming.

See, the RHPS of gaming will never happen, because the second panel of the comic happens to ever game sooner or later.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.
