The [Wish] economy in action [The Immortal Legion]

Post by Judging__Eagle »

This is very rough, I'm probably missing essential parts; like say, how police and law enforcement work; or how manufacturing stuff works.

In the [Wish] Economy... everything under 15,000 gp is free.

Meaning that you can combine really interesting items to make interesting results.

Like say, a lot of stat boosting items are cheap as free.

+10 Competence Skill Bonus Items are 10k (Say, UMD)

+2 Enchancement bonus to a Stat (Say, Cha)

+5 Inherent Bonus to Stats (Say, oh, Str, Con, Dex, and Int or Wis; or Cha for other characters)

+2 Weapons are free

+3 Weapons and Sheilds are also free

You can give +2 to physical stat items,

Special materials are free for making armour or weapons.

Many transport magic items are also free.

In fact, here's a list of some of these items:

33 Boots of speed 12,000 gp
34 Goggles of night 12,000 gp
35 Golem manual, clay 12,000 gp
36 Medallion of thoughts 12,000 gp
37 Pipes of pain 12,000 gp
38 Blessed book 12,500 gp
39 Belt, monk’s 13,000 gp
40 Gem of brightness 13,000 gp
41 Lyre of building 13,000 gp
42 Cloak of arachnida 14,000 gp
43 Stone horse, destrier 14,800 gp
44 Belt of dwarvenkind 14,900 gp
45 Periapt of wound closure

The Immortal Legion

We're not the best liked out there. Would you like to join us?

Well, some things that are normally powerful can also sometimes be free. The only limitation on what you can do with a certain power; like say... always have enough earth and water to grow crops well.

Basically, they hire anyone. From humans to goblins to bugbears.

They divide people into one of two groups, and then has them work as either combat, or non-combat roles.

who is willing to have their aligment changed if Evil, but not [Evil].

How do you Hire these people

We're looking for people who want to join the Immortal Legion. Myself, I'm 67, and will probably live to be over a hundred years old.

Imagine going into an city, in a world, today, and being able to offer pretty much immortality, to anyone willing to fight to the death several times in their life?

Perhaps, even many times in their life?

Even if you start small, and it's just a bunch of adventurers, who keep giving the 'trash' drops to any NPC that is willing to follow them, as long as they follow along, and help use those items. So, they'll collect +2 Str Gauntlets, and give them to the big brawny NPC barbarians or fighters. Heroes and their proteges, sort of. Meaning 'cohorts', but also a lot less powerful, and costing a lot less in terms of PC character power (loot, instead of a feat; and a 1st lvl character that will level up as time passes, and will start with a very favorable attitude towards you, since you're giving them stuff and power that they could never otherwise get. Of course, if they're treacherous.... well, it's doubtful that a 1st lvl anything can solo any 6th level PC and kill the PC; barring a very complicated, or very lethal, method (crushing them under a massive stone block;
I just thought of how they'd do it and how much it cost.

A 1-shot Tenser's Disk 'item', to carry the block to be over the person's house.

If you have access to the random wish economy item from a higher level character, you could probably afford to buy cheap items that could allow you to kill a 6th or so level character.

How you treat your followers, leads to how they react

For Duke Leto!

If you treat your followers well, they'll obviously be more trusting, and trustworthy. If you're intimidating, your followers will look more like something from the Baron Haarkonen's army.

BDSM-armoured thugs, with gatling-gun machine guns, and Punk-style haircuts, usually dyed red, and with pale, or grey skin.

The Atredies were meant to look like extremely clean cut, fair, healthy and well dressed. Their cohorts were in both larger numbers, more trustworthy, and far more dedicated to serving their leaders.

Cohorts
I'd give you a cut bad enough to scar if I thought you weren't figthting at your best, something to help you remember to never do that/

Thufir Hawat would do everything possible to teach his student (Paul) everything he could about security, and assassination, and spying (A Mentat/Assassin).

Gurney Halleck (Bard/Smuggler/Fighter) was very loyal to the Atredies family, and he was a Haarkonen who had escaped Giedi Prime.

Duncan Idaho teaches figthing (Slave/Stable Boy/Ginaz Swordmaster/Sardaukar Slayer/Awakened Ghola/Continual memory Ghola/etc. etc. etc.; as the most recurring character, it's like Frank Herbery wanted to make up for the fact that Duncan dies in the first part of the book, after barely being introduced; then makes up for it by giving him "lol, god powers".)

Baron Haarkonen, has noticeably less capable and more ruthless cohorts. Piter De Vries (evil mental); The 'Beast' Raban (his brutish and violent nephew) and Feyd Rautha (his more charming, and graceful, but very selfish and evil nephew).

Later when the wish economy is on,

and basically, you offer these people treasure, based on recovering, and handing in items that you find.

Basically, every team is allowed to travel out for as long as they want, getting as powerful as they want to be; and offering them benefits, like Resurrection, and being in a very safe place, since everyone in your 'Side's' capital is on your 'Side'.
The Gaming Den; where Mathematics are rigorously applied to Mythology.

While everyone's Philosophy is not in accord, that doesn't mean we're not on board.
