Excessive amounts of plot? Your partner is insecure because of shows with lots of story and character development? You're right, you really aren't typical.

edit: Speaking of anime... Kissanime is down. My life is without purpose.

The other kind of plot. The important kind.

My experience is seemingly very atypical then, because I engage in a serious of temporary relationships in which both parties know they are temporary, and I practically never lie, I have said the sentence "Because I won't be sleeping with you in 6 months, but I'll still be posting on TGD." in response to inquiries about my late night internet posting three times in my life.

And sexually... yeah, about 2 weeks is how long it takes before we have shared pretty much all our sexual interests.

Tell her that you aren't fucking watching Dr. Who and Woody Allen is a disgusting pedophile. Also look into possibly replacing her with someone that enjoys plot in anime as well. Then again you might not consider me an authority on relationships so if you don't take that advice I won't be offended.

DSMatticus had (past-tense, so presumably the issue isn't even relevant anymore) a partner who he hid his plot-heavy anime from. Hiram McDaniels has a partner who likes Dr. Who and Woody Allen. I'm reasonably certain that DSM's partner and Hiram McDaniels' partner are two separate people.

Dsm IS my partner, and I am indeed very self-conscious about my acups.

Incidentally I would overlook the creepy incest stuff if woody Allen still made decent films. Roman Polanski is a piece of shit, but Chinatown is still one of my favorite movies.

I'll just put up with dr. Who. It's not like it will just go on and on for 30 years or anything, right?

Actually, it's been on for 50-odd years now, and likely to stay on the air for much longer than that. It makes the BBC the big bucks.

Does your partner make you watch the old stuff, too? From the sixties and whatnot? Because if they do, man are you in trouble.

While there are episodes of Doctor Who that were indeed recorded just over 50 years ago, it wasn't actually being made for about 15 of those years. They stopped producing it in 1989 and resumed in 2005.

Yeah, I meant to say that the show itself is over 50 years old, not that it was on the air for that long. Although, if you count the novels and audio stories, then there has been a continuous run of Doctor Who material in general.

GAH

Rogue One has
NO OPENING CRAWL!!!!
How can they call that a Star Wars Movie?!?!

;)

The crawl would be identical to Episode 4 (minus the last paragraph).

The opening crawl would be about the situation at the beginning of the movie, which is like 14 years before the main events of the film and would have very little to do with anything.

Disney has apparently decided to differentiate Star Wars movies into 'episode' movies and 'story' movies, with the latter category not having an opening crawl. This makes a certain amount of sense, and also saves them from having numberless crawls (because putting up 'Episode 3.9' would be stupid). EU media sometimes had opening crawls and sometimes did not over the years, it's a defensible choice.

Because I was hiding it from TGD, since that one idiot complained about crunchyroll ads.

The ads on Kissanime aren't that obtrusive. Although the only anime I really like is One Punch Man.

Because this idiot doesn't like having his show abruptly interrupted by the same three commercials playing in a row, three times per episode.

Kissanime does not interrupt my episodes with ads. I don't have to pay money on Kissanime to not have ads. Further, Kissanime has a wider selection of free anime than Cruncyroll does. Everyone should use it over Cruncyroll.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Kaelik is in fact a sentient ad from the future constructed by Cruncyroll to assassinate me.

......

Crunchyroll pays money to companies that make anime, kissanime doesn't, and just steals them. Since they don't have to pay for the anime, of course they have less adds. So of course I didn't tell the whiny idiot how to effectively pirate anime, so he would keep watching the site that actually gives money to studios.

Of course you prefer the pirate site to the legitimate site, That's the reason I didn't tell you!

I never minded a couple 30 second ads here and there on crunchyroll, but when it got to 3 minute ads that you couldn't skip and would crash the plugin, thats where I drew the line. I used to have a paid subscription, but it lapsed when I replaced my card last year and I haven't bothered renewing it.

But kissanime is much better. Sure it's probably aggregating personal data for some russian thieves, but I don't have much worth stealing anyway.

The problem with Crunchyroll is not that it has ads, but that it isn't properly supporting the ad-based model. Much like Hulu the existence of the ad-based model is merely a lure, it's designed to suck people in and then get them to eventually buy the subscription service. You can tell because Crunchyroll ads have always been terribly repetitive - they've never built up the kind of ad base necessary to sustain real revenue - which shows they aren't trying. Hulu did the same thing and ultimately just totally axed the ad-based option entirely and went subscription only. It's a totally dickish exploitative setup and it's very frustrating. That's why I just use adblock plus on crunchyroll - it still skips the ads.

That being said, going to pirate streaming sites is poor form. If you're going to pirate, just torrent. Don't go to a website that allows someone else to make money off the piracy.

I had faith that Harry Connick Jr. could host an even blander television program than the Ellen DeGeneres Show and he didn't disappoint. I love my grandparents but man, that daytime lineup makes the visits pretty rough.

This. This this this this this this. This is EXACTLY what I'm saying.

I don't mind ads. I don't mind Cruncyroll having ads. It's the way they actually go about doing the ads that I don't like! Three blocks of three commercials totalling nine minutes per episode is just not how civilized men do things.
