No-rank, low-cha intimidate
In my current game where I'm playing a Samurai, I just picked up the Blitz feat for my level 9 feat. In two levels, I get to intimidate people as a bonus action whenever I deal damage...
All well and good, but I don't have any ranks in intimidate (it's not even a class skill), and my charisma is a measly 12. I thus have an amazing +1 bonus to this skill. Is there any way I can make use of this ability?

There are custom magical items that give a competence bonus (bonus ^2 x 100gp) and you can use a masterwork tool that give a +2 circumstance bonus.

Just a heads up... Your post is pregnant... When you miss that many periods it's just a given.

doesn't f&k take out most of the extraneous bonus types on items.Leress wrote:There are custom magical items that give a competence bonus (bonus ^2 x 100gp) and you can use a masterwork tool that give a +2 circumstance bonus.
so wouldn't the magical bonus item just be a level x bonus to skill which would be a competence bonus and then you have the circumstance bonus item.
So at level 11 you would have w/o ranks. a total of 14 bonus. If you did take ranks in intimidate and the bluff synergy then you would be looking at about a 22 bonus.
There are no cross-class ranks in Tome.ubernoob wrote:Pay for some cross class ranks as you level. Get the synergy bonus from bluff.
While an 11th level samurai could have no more than 7 ranks in intimidate, he could get those 7 for 7 points.
Incidentally, how the fuck is intimidate not a class skill?
Totally forgot about the masterwork tool, that's hilarious (and I have no idea how it works in this case, but I'll take what I can get). Guess I can get some Intimidate at cross-class caps (7 at level 11, bleh). That gives me a +10 with the tool. If I drop some ranks into Bluff, +12. That's before any magic item (which I'm not sure I'll be able to get). Not bad. At least, it gives most people a decent chance at failure when you're making a lot of attacks per round.
edit: Oh yeah, forgot about that cool +5 to Charisma that you get for being level 11. Guess that's another +2 to my Intimidate checks.

Yes you are right as per Book of Gears.A_Cynic wrote:doesn't f&k take out most of the extraneous bonus types on items.Leress wrote:There are custom magical items that give a competence bonus (bonus ^2 x 100gp) and you can use a masterwork tool that give a +2 circumstance bonus.

I don't know about your damage output, but after you cut someone down with a Kiai, that should be a bonus to intimidate right there.
I let my Samurai player have a 2d6, x3 two-handed weapon (hey, it's exotic). Further more, he's using that Soulknife feat that lets him add half his Concentration ranks (currently) to his damage. With 16 Str and the enhancement bonus to damage for it being a magic weapon, that's something like... 2d6 + 8, three times over.
Not bad damage for a level 3 character. It certainly would let him cut down a mook, and I'd figure after you've seen your squadmate get bisected diagonally in one strike, you get a little leery of the guy who did it.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

My damage output has actually been pretty low (compared to regular Samurai) because I've focused on Dex, not Str (which is 10). However, thanks to Power Attack and an x4 multiplier I still do semi-Massive Damage on a Kiai! critical. Blitz helps a lot now, adding another BAB*4 to critical damage. And level 11 is great, because I can finally add dex-and-a-half to damage as well.
The worst was that pirate captain I fought who had Elusive Target...no power attack damage there! Still managed to take him down pretty fast (two rounds) thanks to good damage rolls on the 1d8 for my weapon and Iaijutsu for some chip damage on the side but yikes -- glad I have Blitz now to make up for it.

Even scarier, one on your head, one in each hand, some more for padding, and the ugliest one as a codpiece.Koumei wrote: Although you could also make it "the head of the last person to anger me".
