So according to the main page of the Den the Last post counter for MPSIMS says the time and date that it was made at was.... "31 Dec 1969 06:00 pm" and by no one.

That's... interesting.

I'll look into it.

I don't know what caused it. I have a screen cap of the issue, and I'll dig into the database when I get home to see if there's anything weird there. But posting caused the index to properly update.

When i spoke to my wife about this, she mentioned Epoch time.

First we have the imfamous XKCD link at Image and also a reference to what it actually is at the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epoch_(reference_date)

So apparently, it seems to be the reference point as to one when time starts according to the phpbb. :-D

The internet started in 1970.

$Time didn't exist before then. So if passed a null, that's the date you get.

I keep getting random errors when I try to post. That's the most verbose error I've gotten.

Also, it's once again not updating where I last read to. It knows the new posts or not, but when I get redirected to it, it sends me to the first new post I ever read in the thread, which is often from last week, and I have to manually navigate to the newest post. Manually navigating doesn't solve this, either, nor does refreshing my cache.

Back from GenCon and getting caught up on lots of stuff...

Are you still getting these database errors, Crissa?

I have a mod/patch that claims to fix the "last read post" issue you're encountering. I'm doing a series of stuff this week, on Nifty first then here. I'm really sleep deprived, but as I recall the mod for this problem is in the next round because it was a bit more complex. But I'll update once I'm more caught up and can think straight.

This is the other error I just got:
tgdmb wrote:FastCGI Handler Extension

Error 0x80070102 occurred processing request.

The FastCGI process exceeded configured activity timeout
And earlier today I got a page sent to me that was the page, with the page again at the bottom. And another page which was unreadably wide for some undisplayed reason.

These errors only happen here.

Now not only is it forgetting which was the last post in a thread I read...

...It's forgetting that I've read threads at all. So I read something. Go away, come back, and then later am told this thread is new, but there's nothing new in it.

That's happened in half the new threads today, being flagged new two or three times over.

Yep, we do actually. :) That's part of the delay in me getting the search index rebuild mod installed - I was waiting for the test database for both Nifty and the Den to be up and running. Another factor is that we just recently changed servers. A third factor is that I'm lazy. ;)

Where are you seeing the "_prod" at, though?

Huh. I missed those, somehow. It loaded with your post as the first on my screen...

Obviously, I'm experiencing similar (but not quite the same) problems. I've also experiencing something like what you describe here in very active threads. I'll read the new posts, go away and come back, and there'll be more new posts. When I click the link though, it takes me to where I started from previously rather than the next new post.

I found a mod that attempts to fix all this sort of stuff. However... it's very involved (including database changes) and requires manual installation. So while it's on my to-do list, it's really low on the list - at least until I'm more comfortable with manual installation.

Okay, what gives?

I can't reply to two threads by K. On one browser, it shows them but says the thread does not exist, and on the other, it just doesn't show them.

That thread seems to be working fine for me. Try running "ipconfig /flushdns" from an elevated (if running Vista) command prompt. The DNS configurations for TGD and Nifty have been updated today and you may have stale data. Damn TTL was set to 24 hours :flames:

That seems to have worked for the problem on one thread sending me to another, but I still can't see those two threads by K. One was about Meta-gaming, and had a response from Surgo, and the other was about a high-level wizard playtest.

Also, I just saw Surgo make a thread AND post a note in here, but that thread and post are nowhere to be found when I look at the board.

For the record, Baduin's Planescape Cosmology thread was linking me to K's Metagame thread.

If you notice in those screen shots, you are visiting two different URLs. In the AOL browser, you are visiting http://tgdmb.com and in firefox it is http://www.tgdmb.com. I know the difference is subtle, but I found a problem in the DNS setup for both Nifty and TGD today and had to fix it. If you stick to www.tgdmb.com, you should be getting the correct server to respond. The root domain was pointing to a different server today and it may take until morning to get the URLs to resolve correctly for everyone on the interwebs. Thanks to the mix-up, some posts made during the changeover may have been lost.

The reason I suggested the use of "ipconfig /flushdns" was that this will make sure that the problem is not on your machine. Windows makes an effort to cache DNS translations and the command will clean out the cache you had. Again, the URL http://www.tgdmb.com should serve you well until the DNS changes make it to your ISP.

No problem at all. I thought that there might be some hiccoughs with this. The good news is that the new server is really stable. With any lock, the FastCGI errors should be gone. :)

So I guess this is the thread for this...

Last night I decided to change my avatar to a tasteful Nazi Donald Duck. I made sure it fit (<6 KB, <125 pixels square), browsed it up, and hit submit.
Warning: copy(./images/avatars/12701490a655711e12.gif) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\tgdmb_prod\includes\usercp_avatar.php on line 288
This ^ is the answer I got. Needless to say, my avatar did not go through.
I tried a couple more times with the same result. So I sez, "Okay, it doesn't like that picture. No problem. I'll just upload my old avatar; the hooded wraith with the flashing eyes."

Same result.

I tried again today. Same result.

Any ideas? Or am I stuck with the timeless classic red-X-in-a-white-box avatar?
