Getting back to the original topic, I find it hard enough to get people to see the flaws in their arguments about gaming, let alone politics. With all due respect to fbmf, moderators don't have the time to actively moderate topics, the best they can hope for is to periodically check in and hope a flame war hasn't erupted in the meantime. In my opinion topics as emotional as politics are too volatile for the message board format. Even if a flame war can be prevented, confrontations can cut so close to the bone that they color any further conversation between one poster and another, regardles of the topic.

I'd just as soon stick to the usual pointless arguments about gaming, movies, and other forms of entertainment without drastically complicating things with sideline confrontations over politics.

I believe that's why some of us try to keep responses down to once a day, or so. It allows a bit of cooling off and really gives you a chance to think up what you want to say.
