While I'm at it, I'll test my new sig and avatar, to see if it worked.

Dammit, my sig isn't working, must be too big an image. Let me fix it.

Dangit, won't let me resize it. I'll fool with it later.

Dangit, jnow it's working, but it's gigantic! Gotta still mess with it, as this is mildly disruptive by my opinion.

Will mess with it tomorrow, I just deleted the thing to stop it from being irritating until I can figure out how to resize it. (I've made it smaller on MY computer, but stupid Angelfire keeps making it big again, I gotta ask the wife how to make it smaller. But now, to bed.)

Alright, I played with it some, perhaps now it's managable.

*holds breath* Oooookie dokie, can I test how all my sigs work at this forum without looking like I'm spamming? They might be rendered okay at Fluid, but they might be totally skewed on other boards.

*tests his first sig*
[Edit- Okay, the first line's invisible... and the whole sig's cut short. Ouch]

I don't have a problem with that so long as you confine it to this thread.

if it become a problem, my lawyers will be in touch.

The image in his sig line took up an inordinate amount of room before he editted it, which chonjurer ranted against once upon a time.

No offence to chonj, but he ranted about a lot of things.

Chonj has a true gift for ranting, I think.

Anybody know why my little guinness chugging smilie next to my name looks squished here, but looks OK over at Nifty?

And also, does my avatar appear to be a little off as well around here - or is my eyesight worse than I thought?

Yep, that's what it is. If you right click and select properties, it's 72 x 100. But if you go into my profile, the image is set to 72 x 116.

edit: same is true for the personal icon. Properties show 20x20, but settings shows 45x20.

My guess would be a limitation established on the board itself - but that's just a guess...

I'll ask Maj if there is anything I can do about that. My image-fu is weak.

All right.... On both boards, the image registers to me as 72 x 116.

Nifty's image allowances are different from the default because of the requests made by posters, and the only thing to do about it is either adjust the settings in your user profile, or have the admin of the "problem boards" adjust their settings.

User method:

Since it appears that the size allowance for your avatar image is 100 x 100, then you have to tell your avatar to display within those parameters. In the settings of your User CP, display the width as 62 and the height as 100. It will change your avatar's display size on Nifty, as well. You can repeat this with your personal icon which resizes to a width of 20 and height of 8.

Admin method:

In the Admin panel, under the heading of edit board settings, you have the option of setting User Limitations (bottom of the page). You may change these numbers to be a bit more generous. For example, Nifty currently has a limitation of 50 X 50 on the icon and 125 X125 on the avatar.
My son makes me laugh. Maybe he'll make you laugh, too.
