What is with the spasmodic banners? Sometimes they're up, and sometimes, they're not.

Nope. Yesterday they tried to instal spyware software on my computer, and it was only through insistant clicking of 'Cancel' buttons that I managed to avoid it.

Well here's what I did a month ago.

I edited my hosts file. This site provides the info to insert, covering a huge list of common spam sites.

They will simply not show up on your browser. In some cases the window will appear but be empty, but for most you just won't even know unless you look for the white space where it should be.

Oh, and go to services.msc and turn off + Disable DNS client.

Yeah I realize to some here this is preaching to the choir but it seemed that others like tzor really need it!

Actually I never had a problem with the pop ups, except that my current setings had my IE constantly tell me "Look what I did daddy, I just blocked a pop up. Aren't I cute? Would you like to see it? No? OK."

I have an old computer that doesn't do that, but I just didn't wiew the pages on them. I have a similiar "problem" with Cool Mini or Not which does popups unless you are logged in (to a paid account) so when I get logged off I can easily notice that fact.

I think I could turn off that setting but then I would never know how much the sortware is working for me.
