I had a PC criticized recently for using beads of karma. IMO, arcane casters can use them, as long as they are "capable" of casting divine spells. The bonus is unnamed to "caster level." IMO, this means a wizard who has been imbued w/ a cleric spell, or otherwise can cast a divine spell, can use it. Thoughts?
The rules:
SRD wrote:Wearer casts his spells at +4 caster level. Effect lasts 10 minutes
SRD wrote:the beads of karma and summons can be activated by any character capable of casting divine spells.
The problem is the Bead of Karma itself, which is totally broken. Getting an obscure build able to barely qualify for a bonus that Clerics mysteriously get for rolling out of bed in the morning isn't broken - but the fact that the Cleric gets bonuses for rolling out of bed in the first place is.
Beads of Karma, Ankhs of Ascension (Races of Faerun), and Orange Ioun Stones ... all stackable, all Velveeta. Although only the Beads of Karma are improperly costed. But great for you Blasphemy-family of spells spellcaster.
The Imbue With Spell Ability trick is an established one fully supported by the RAW.
