Using familiars to store buffs

Post by Lago_AM3P »

Seriously, has anyone ever had their familiar hold the charge on a short-range buff and keep the familiar someplace close by but safe such that they can use the buff on their owner when it's called for?

I've never seen anyone do this, ever. What about you guys?

I'd imagine it has really limited use, since casting any other spell would cause the familiar's held spell to disipate. I guess it's sort of like a poor man's Quicken Spell for the first round of combat. Cast the spell into your familiar, then when combat breaks out the familiar touches you (or whomever) before you fire off your first spell.

*shrug*

spellcasters who are divination-friendly (or who have top notch scouts ahead of them) would best benefit from this.

knowledge of impending enemies "just right around the corner" is a rare luxury for most adventuring parties. So I doubt most arcanists will abuse this neat little tactic.
