This class ability gets more and more nuts as time goes on. Some highlights:
We already know about getting elemental wildshapes and then tearing the game wide open. But sadly, this sort of tomfoolery is available way earlier than that.
Combining Celestial Wildshape with Aberration Wildshape is the most broken thing ever. And you can do it at level 8. Have fun being a choker or a beholder or whatever you crazy powergamers like being.
...
Is there any way to make your wildshape undersized? It seems to be a good idea to combine that with dragon wildshape. And there just has to be some killer dragon application somewhere out there.

It also looks like they stealth-nerfed the FAQ. Sadness.
That is, sadness for everyone who is not a druid. Suckers.
Okay, you stupid fuckers, if polymorph is based off of the alter self chain, can anyone fucking explain what happens to me when you cast 'alter self' after you're already polymorphed?
...
If you have dragon wildshape, you can change into a brass dragon and then change into a human. Forever, too, so you don't have to worry about the spell crapping out on you. Since they stealth-nerfed human polymorphers in the FAQ, this allows druids to be the complete masters at item creation, as they can swap out whatever item creation feats they need at the drop of a hat. Fucking dumbasses.
There's just gotta be a way to wildshape into something with the giant or outsider types. There's just gotta.

Halfling Racial Substitution Level.

Re: Druid Wildshape Madness
I can't remember which recent sourcebook it was, but there was an explicit ruling that elemental druid wildshaping *only* applies to actual fire/water/earth/air elementals in the MM.
Granted, it's still not in the freakin' Core Rules via FAQ, errata, blah blah blah. Which is pitiful. But it does put the kibosh on Frank's long-ago argument that elemental wildshaping legally allows elementals built via MotP Elemental templates.
Then this Halfling Racial Sub Level craziness came into play. Which somehow convolutes the whole mess again because there are no tiny elementals in the MM. Which leads to confusion for the normal masses, and elemental template finagling by those who will shoehorn the H.R.S.L. allowance into their game even if it kills them.

Well the halfling druid substitution level lets them turn into tiny elementals, of which there are none which are a generic [type] elemental!.
Re: Druid Wildshape Madness
What is it that's so powerful about combining those two feats?
Do you mean Exalted Wild Shape, adding the celestial template?

Re: Druid Wildshape Madness
The key is that when you have Exalted Wildshape you get the Supernatural Abilities of things you transform into with Wildshape. With aberration wildshpae you get to turn into monsters that are distinguished by having crazy and awesome Supernatural Abilities.

The trouble is, Exalted Wild Shape also says: "You can also turn into a celestial version of any animal you could normally transform into." (bolding mine) not any other things you might turn into

Re: Druid Wildshape Madness
That's true, but it also says that you get the Supernatural Abilities of "the creature" when you wildshape. The idea is that you can turn into a celestial lion and get Smite Evil, or you ca turn into a Blink Dog and get Dimension Door.
But it also means that you can turn into a Choker and get Quickness. No, it specifically doesn't allow you to turn into a Celestial Carrion Crawler. But you don't care.

Re: Druid Wildshape Madness
Hmmm, yes it does say "You gain the extraordinary and supernatural abilities of the creature." but it says it immediately after and in the same paragraph as giving a small list of allowed good-aligned Magical Beasts and animals with the celestial template added.
I think that using that sentence 'out of context' is a bit dubious.
