The Choice is made by the campaign budget, obviously . .

TFwiki wrote:Soon is the name of the region in the time-domain (familiar to all marketing departments, and to the moderators and staff of Fun Publications) which sees release of all BotCon news, club exclusives, and other fan desirables. Soon is when then will become now.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

Gee, I wonder.
He's an incompetent buffoon, that's all. A racist and sexist buffoon, too, so there's no way I can like him as either a person or a politician.
However, I don't think most other politicians are much better in terms of competence or personal behaviour. Note that I said "most", not "all".

Besides, as far as I know, there's an up-and-coming someone on the Democrat side of the USA that literally advocates removing most of the barriers to immigration altogether, both borders and border guards. Some of their supporters say it's to make a new immigration agency, which will be more "humane", the others don't seem to have planned that far. I don't think that's satire, and I don't think that's a good position, despite the idea gaining traction.

So as an outsider, who doesn't care about one party or the other, I'm kinda baffled as to who exactly is supposed to be the good side in American politics. Reasonable figures don't seem to get as much attention these days, with both sides being equally crazy, only in different ways. Do you choose based on who's less morally bankrupt?
Adding to "Trump is actually just as bad the democrats and definitely not worse" we now have "Also I hate immigrants and watch Fox News!"

Now, while it is certainly true that "wanting to remove all borders and border guards" is literally ZERO QUESTION infinity billion times better than Trump, if you watched slightly less fox news scare pieces and read fewer dailywire articles you could discover that actually, ICE is not in fact, the CBP, and Abolishing ICE would not in fact exterminate the concept of border guards and borders, because ICE is an organization created in 2003 with the express mandate of looking for dirty immigrants and checking to see if they might be terrorists, because we all know that all immigrants are just terrorists waiting to happen.

If you abolished ICE tomorrow, and didn't replace their functions with literally a single goodam agency you would still have the "Customs and Border Patrol" agency which is, very weirdly, responsible for customs and border patrol, and you would still have the FBI looking for terrorists. And the only things you would lose is the organization that has a special task force for stripping immigrants of citizenship, runs all the child jails where they abuse children constantly, and arrests journalists who report on them.

Jesus fuck you piece of literal human garbage watch less fox news.

That's a lot of assumptions from a few phrases, really. While I could waste more time proving that they aren't true, I concede this debate, consider me shamed and covering before your endless well of righteous indignation.

I'll try to stick to the game design/TTRPG section of the forum, as I originally intended.

I mean, you can't "prove them wrong" because your defense against the claim that you are a Trump apologist was apologia for Trump.

But you also completely missed the point. They point of course, is that you are objectively wrong about the facts, and also morally fucking horrific, so your defense of yourself by saying "If you just knew what I really believed, that immigrants are bad people and need to be excluded that that letting immigrants into the country and using the procedures we used up until the 1990s would be at least as bad as locking them in cages and abolishing democracy and inciting murder of minorities, you wouldn't be so critical of me."

And the point I'm making is that actually, I would absolutely be critical of you, because that's the thing I'm criticizing you for.

Also for just being really bad at understanding what political means, because slavery was literally the most political thing in the entire country for 80 years straight.

He's leading the GOP to new lows. Plenty of politicians do a half-hearted attempt at protecting the US people, plenty of them give them a good kicking every so often, it's noteworthy (or at least should be) to have a PotUS whose actions can consistently be explained as him actively working for Russia to diminish the US.

That's a great deal worse than most of his opponents.

More or less. When one side is run by a cartoon villain that defends Nazis, the other side is probably going to be better. They shouldn't get a free pass, of course, but things would be massively different if the Dems were in power.

I mean, it's pretty fucking telling that he was looking for criticism of the democrats, and the one thing he found most objectionable was "a candidate supports Abolish ICE!"

- Anything to do with Frump

- Kingdom Hearts, because Goofy's fascists tirades are wearisome

- Masahiro Sakurai

- Christianity

Those are the only politics that I don't want in my mindless entertainment.

An issue with many games is that they handle politics with the subtlety and finesse of smashing you in the face with a crowbar.

Example. In both "Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear" and "Mass Effect: Andromeda" there are minor NPCs who immediately upon your first contact with them rant at you about the plight of trans people and their dead names.

I guess we just have different standards for popularity, because Fate Grand Motherfucking Order is stupidly popular here in China, not only getting big booths at every gaming/anime event besides assorted merchandise everywhere else, but even the fans organizing life theather plays at said events. Skyrim meanwhile gets maybe a few props on sale here and there if that, and there's about zero Oblivion/earlier stuff in view.
I'm shocked by how good the PRC tiddy games are now. There's one with girl commandos, and a battleship girls one. I think they both have Japanese voice actors too.

Yeah, ship girls has been pretty popular for a few years now too, and bullet girls has been gaining ground too.

There was also Steam trying to ban all the tiddie games appearing over their store and were hit with such an huge fan backlash they quickly reversed the decision.

Meanwhile some companies seem to start at aiming at girl players now since I'm starting to see mobile fantasy games with only pretty boys and male voice actors. Actually the last anime convention I went had the last main event for the day being an interview with the voice actors for one of said games and the audience was full of girls squealing and taking photos/videos of them (and the girl's not very amused boyfriends just sitting silently).

To be fair, if any woman I was with squealed in public about anything I'd probably drop her. There are many reasons why I don't date preteens, don't do things that preteen girls do.

Those are the only politics that I don't want in my mindless entertainment.
Okay, so should there be zero fascists, corrupt government officials, incompetent government officials and such? Is Final Fantasy 7's Don Fucking Corneo acceptable? He's basically Trump if Trump only got to be mayor of Detroit, but was made a long time before President Frump became a thing.

And Christianity, do you not want references to it? Do you not want "It's totally Christianity but not" to appear (ie most evil tyrannical mega-religions to appear in media)? Are you just not happy with games basically starting with the premise of "Christianity is right" and forcing Christian "morality" onto you? These are entirely different things, and disqualifying entirely different swathes of games.

In Dragon Quest 9 you're explicitly a guardian angel for a Japanafied version of Christianity, the first half of the game involves you doing enough good deeds to get back into Heaven. It honestly comes off as cutesy and endearing in execution and if you can get by the outdated battle system I'd say it's a solid DS jrpg. Would that bother you?

I'm just saying, it makes more sense to judge each bit of media on a case by case basis based on what the message is, how the message is expressed, etc.

The content of Tetris isn't very political but the origin story is certainly fertile. Alexey Pajitnov created the game in the '80s while working as a researcher at the Soviet Academy of Sciences and so he ended up ceding the publishing rights to the government to get it out in the world rather than try to fight tooth and nail for ownership.

And yet, the same people who are always mad about how a couple RPGs have trans characters.

Oh by the way, literally every single thing that Longes said is wrong about this trans character who 1) Never says anything about plight of trans people, 2) She doesn't have a deadname (I mean, literally, she doesn't tell the PCs what hers was) 3) You have to specifically ask her about her "weird name" before she mentions that she is trans.

But yeah, the same people who are mad about this HAM HANDED I TELL YOU trans character smashing you in the face with her AGGRESSIVE POLITICS have no problem with GTA's "Extremely Subtle" politics, or the tremendously subtle politics of Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Because those are..... oh wait, those are super aggressively actually face crowbarred bullshit that no one complains about because the message is that the US military is great and that foreigners are all secretly evil.

But then weirdly, they did all complain about the in your face unsubtle politics of the Kevin Spacey is an evil american one? I wonder why?

Err, not to rain on your parade Kaelik, but did you not read anything about how people moaned and bitched about the new call of modern battlefield because of the female front fighter with the prosthetic arm and the black samurai dude in the kilt?

I could not care any less, because fuck those games on principle, but it was kinda hard to not read about that anywhere.

Why do you not think that's a corroboration of Kaelik's claim, instead of a refutation? Kaelik gave an example right there of a CoD game where, because the politics deviated enough from "Rah US military badass high-tech heroes", people got upset about it. The point isn't that literally every Call of Duty and Battlefield game has the same reactionary pro-military pro-imperialist politics at all times, just that when they do gamers don't give a shit and when they don't suddenly it's an outrage inserting politics into gaming.

People bitched about the trans character in Dragon Age: Inquisition because he existed too. Even though Krem didn't mention it unless you specifically asked him (it was my third playthrough until I realized he wasn't born a man, I just assumed he was a kid).

Game had serious flaws, I won't deny that, But Krem wasn't even on the radar.

As Magnum pointed out, I explicitly talked about how some Call of Duty heavy handed politics are accepted despite being every bit as crass and in your face, but that in other, different cases, other parts of different Call of Duty games are "political" and "in your face" and bad because of that, and that the difference is that it's politics dudebro gamers disagree with.

IE, as I've been saying the entire time "If I agree with the thing, it's not politics, or it's not heavy handed (even when it definitely is) but if I disagree with it (like trans people existing, or women being equal to men, or black people being equal to whites) it is heavy handed and in your face (even if it isn't)"

The list was a joke, man. Weird juxtaposition for the hell of it. The only thing I was serious about was Kingdom Heart. Also, I've been on pain-killers for the last week or so, so I'm not as coherent as I am normally.

And for the record, Dragon Quest IX is my all-time favorite game.

Was at Playstation Experience Bangkok 2018...

Dead or Alive 6: Fun game, you can see right down Helena's qipao boob window, like each breast not touching and darkness. Bleeding, bruises, clothes tearing, hits a new fetish as I don't recall the past games emphasizing the violence as much as the bouncing.

Soul Calibur VI: Fun, enjoyed the slo-mo mechanic when two big attacks connect

Dragon Quest XI: Running over monsters with my horse was really satisfying, standard DQ gamepla with solid feedback to actions. I... don't like the forced accent voices and name chances though, like why does the warrior woman "Martina/Marutina" need to be changed to "Jade"?

Sekiro gameplay trailer: Parrying is the main defense, might be direction based. Didn't see any rolling through attacks like Dark Souls. The environment has some kind of distortion going on, going from spring thaw to a frozen valley to autumn falling over a wooden bridge all in one place, seasons flowing in reverse? There was a cool boss fight with a towering hannya masked warrior wearing heian style court robes at th eend with the autumn leaves. Midway through the fight everything becomes grey fog, the leaves become like black ink. I feel there's some kind of illusion/time/space distortion going on.

The standard arm is a grappling hook, switch on the fly to axe arm to break shields, switch to gun arm to launch distracting fireworks

Jump Stars: Looks and plays like ass.

Kingdom Hearts III: I didn't enjoy it as much as Nier-Automata.

Naruto to Boruto Ninja Strikers: Fun team vs game! Good variety of jutsu (you have 2 normals on cooldown, 3rd is a super on long cooldown). Basic light/heavy/shuriken attacks, dodging. Lots of wall walking.

OK, se we all knew what was going to happen once word got out that HBS sold out to paradox with the Battletech Game.
And here we are, the first DLC for the game has been announced:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELKyrmDlTd4
It's smallish, planned for november, i expect it to cost about 10 bucks or less from the bit of new content: one new mission type, one new biome for map generation and 3 (no, not even 4 for a whole new lance) new mechs and most people give not a single fuck about 2 of them. Crab. Cyclops. And the one mech everybody is losing their minds about: Hatchet or Axeman. Not sure to be honest O.o

BUT on the flipside?
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/in ... s.1115763/
Welcome to BATTLETECH 1.2 Beta! This update is now available for users to opt-in to the "public_beta" branch on Steam and GoG. It contains a number of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes, as well as some cool new features.

HIGHLIGHTS: Players using the Custom Campaign options introduced in 1.1 can now take advantage of a new "Prologue Skip" setting to fast-track new campaigns (this is definitely not recommended for first-time players, though!). The combat Morale system in the campaign has received a significant overhaul (and is now called Resolve - more on that below). We've added a Memorial Wall in the Argo so that you can honor Dekker's sacrifice whenever you want. We've made several improvements to our save game management systems (and you can now name Manual Saves when creating them). And lastly, we added new events for you to discover during your mercenary adventures. See further details below.

IMPORTANT: If you experience any issues after updating, or see a popup like this one when trying to run the game...

This is a known issue with Steam, where it can occasionally fail to apply the update as expected. Here's the most reliable way we've seen to get around it:

1.Remove an existing game file in your installation directory (e.g. BattleTech.exe)

2.Verify Integrity of Game Files (Right-click on BATTLETECH in your Steam Library, select Properties -> Local Files tab)

3.The update should now download and apply normally.
IMPORTANT: Additional note for players who mod various game files…Reminder that modding is not officially supported. If you have saved a game with any mod active, that saved game will not work after an update has been applied unless you replace all modded files exactly as they were when the save game file was created. Saved games require the exact same data state in order to function properly.

As always, if you experience further issues please contact Customer Support at: https://support.paradoxplaza.com

New Features & Content

New Prologue Skip Option. Added the ability to skip the opening missions and cinematics of the campaign and skip to your first mission as a mercenary commander, helping a group of miners.

Everyone said it was garbage at release. Since I've now played the story mode and the story mode uses the launch version of the heroes and not the "seven seasons worth of content and balance patches" later versions, I can attest to that. It was clearly complete garbage at release. I haven't gotten into the multiplayer yet, but I have been workshopping some heroes against bots in the training area, and the game seems a hell of a lot better now. The basic skeleton of a not-shit fighting game that happens to look like a 3D action game is there.

I can also understand why it frustrates people getting into it, because there are a lot of characters who look like they have noobslayer tech, noobslayer tech meaning any technique which is easy to learn to perform but difficult to learn to counter. Noobslayer tech generally doesn't affect the meta because the kinds of people who define the meta have learned how to counter it, but it has a drastic effect on the experience of average players and can easily destroy communities. You're not going to have a healthy competitive scene if people can't stand your game long enough to get good.
