Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

I enjoyed the irony that the same arguments to buy gold actually work better when convincing people not to buy gold, but I'm pretty sure that the video wasn't trying to do that.Doom wrote:why gold is a bad investment
Wow, that's a truly amazing interpretation, almost as good as anything Charles Manson or Ted Kaszinski has to say.K wrote: I enjoyed the irony that the same arguments to buy gold actually work better when convincing people not to buy gold, but I'm pretty sure that the video wasn't trying to do that.

No, I do get that the video is trying to mock people who don't buy gold as morons, but if you just use the same script and reverse the two roles it actually would work a lot better as humor mocking the irrationality of gold-bugs and/or buying a commodity at peak prices when that commodity traditionally booms and busts.Doom wrote:Wow, that's a truly amazing interpretation, almost as good as anything Charles Manson or Ted Kaszinski has to say.K wrote: I enjoyed the irony that the same arguments to buy gold actually work better when convincing people not to buy gold, but I'm pretty sure that the video wasn't trying to do that.

But I do appreciate the irony of you thinking that people who don't share your viewpoint are serial killers and terrorists.

That video also misrepresents their group of "well-known economists" as all having had the same views in during the real estate bubble - which is a flat out lie. If you actually paid attention, those guys disagreed at the time.
So it's using at least one outright lie to make its pitch.

"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."
Your delusions are getting the better of you...the video gives exactly one reason, sort of, to buy gold, in the first few seconds, and it's impossible to reverse that reason, so there's nothing to 'reverse', as you claim. Note title of video.K wrote: No, (followed by more confusion),.
Your delusions make you a nutjob, again, but now there's aggression towards that which you do not understand, which means 'dangerous' is a possibility, now. Sorry to be unclear by indicating you might be a terrorist or serial killer, my bad.But I do appreciate the irony of you thinking that people who don't share your viewpoint are serial killers and terrorists.
Josh, there's NO pitch beyond a single statement in the first few seconds (and even that one is arguable)...but which named in the video "famous economist" said there was a disastrous housing bubble coming? Keep in mind, they're all on the record as saying otherwise, I'm just curious if anyone were talking out of both sides of the mouth. If you honestly have something, take it to another thread, it would please me greatly to see this, bu this just isn't the thread for it.
Gold is a terrible, terrible, investment, for many good reasons, only good in very unusual situations (which resemble the current situation). The video highlights the bad reasons people have, nothing more.
Again, note title of THIS thread. You don't see the humor in a video, that's fine...just no reason to rage and misrepresent like this. Back to videos, eh? Lighten up, lighten up, lighten up.

The whole thing is a very long and boring gold advertisement filled with false information that ends in a weird libertarian joke about how people not smart enough to buy gold also hate private property.Doom wrote:

It's actually super creepy and I don't know why you felt the need the share. It's almost as bad as the blatantly racist shit PR posts in these kinds of threads.

The law in its majestic equality forbids the rich as well as the poor from stealing bread, begging and sleeping under bridges.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Pretty much. The central argument is that the government defaulted on bonds in the 1970s. Which is sort of true. Between April 26 and May 10 in 1979, the government was late in paying their treasury bonds. That is in the 1970s (by several months), and it is sort of a failure to pay. I mean, it's a failure to pay on time.K wrote:The whole thing is a very long and boring gold advertisement filled with false information that ends in a weird libertarian joke about how people not smart enough to buy gold also hate private property.Doom wrote:

But... they do pay dividends and have never actually defaulted. There has never been a treasury bond that was not honored. Ever. As opposed to e-bullion, where one of the operators killed his business partner and ran off with a bunch of the money and is now in federal custody leaving a whole bunch of people with scripts that are supposedly "worth gold" that they cannot redeem anywhere.
Buying gold almost never gives you actual gold. You buy some shares in some cranky libertarian's vault and then hope that you can sell those shares to someone else before that cranky libertarian flips out and breaks enough laws that the vault gets shut down or gets raided by pirates.
There is an FDIC for banks. There is no FDIC for shifty eyed anti-government fanatics trying to pass virtual ownership of shiny metal around "off the grid". Once you go off the grid: all the risks are yours.
