Putting saline bags into people who don't need them is bad, and it shouldn't be done.

Cynical money making ploy, or ignorance?

If you say no, just be prepared for doctors and nurses to try to talk you into it.

Defensive medicine.

Also, less labor intensive than giving you a bottle of water and a toilet.

Yeah, I could have dealt with a bottle of water and a toilet.

I think they do it to prevent dehydration. Frank should know, I think he's got some kind of medical training.

Just bring some Pedialyte with you next time and guzzle it when they come for you with the needle.

What I hate is when they tell you they're giving you saline, and they give you glucose instead. And when you tell them that they've done it - not just because you're high as a kite from that much sugar, but also because you can read it on the IV bag - they deny it.

"We would NEVER be that negligent... the bag must have climbed down from the shelf, walked here from the storage room, climbed up the pole and then replaced your saline IV!"

A new annoying question, anyone have any clue what's with the whole catholic school girl fetish?

This: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... lGirlsRule

Yes, I just linked you to tvtropes and you will be trapped forever. I seriously got caught there for 4+ hours last night, because of a link to something about hats. Somehow that led to the cold war and Shawn Michaels over-selling Hulk Hogan's moves.

I think it's basically the schoolgirl + uniform thing. I mean, the uniforms (not just catholic ones: old English ones, the Japanese ones etc.) are indeed quite hot, it's just a shame that minors go around wearing them instead of leaving them to the adults. Though I wonder how much of the appeal for many is because they are worn by minors.

Yeah, TV Tropes was one of the first places I looked. They do a good job of explaining the trope, but don't really explain why the fetish exists.

You're probably right though.

It's basically the intersection of a couple of fetishes, which gives it multi-market appeal.

Sometimes it's used as a setting for Girl-on-Girl with the excuse that they're still straight - they're just short on men. People like the idea that they're accessible whilst still open for Girl-on-Girl, I suppose.

In America, I believe, the majority of schools don't have uniforms so there's also the uniform fetish side of it. It also works as a visual cue that the characters are meant to be young. Pleated skirts are reasonably popular in and of themselves, and blouses with sweaters have always looked good.

Furthermore, the ideal of the Catholic schoolgirl is that she's a pure, virginal, naive girl. This, too, is an eminently desirable image for pornography - the more pure a thing is, the more fun/arousing it is to see it corrupted. The ideal also feeds into some desire for authentic emotion despite the immanent superficiality of pornography.

2 hours later...

damn you.

As an aside, getting back to the Taylor Swift video shenanigans... I'm seriously irritated at the trope that a girl only becomes a hottie once she takes off her glasses. She looked plenty fine before going to the dance.

Alternatively, I would have appreciated it if the guy opened up his page at the end and it said "Stay away from me", "I don't like you" or something equally off-putting. Maybe Weird Al can deliver.

I don't understand what there is to not understand. The school girl uniform is literally the uniform of the "young woman" in places where they have it. You might as well ask why breast fetishes exist. Having them literally and specifically marks you as the appropriate sex for mating purposes.

For certain types of males (ie myself), purity/innocence is very, very tempting. TVtropes pretty much explained it, but it bears repeating because it is so freaking right:
1) The forbidden fruit. It hasn't been touched and there's actually a sort of pride to be gained by being the first to bring them down to the level of the rest of us.
2) The challenge. Nothing will bring a man back like feeling that he has a challenge to overcome.

No, I'm not over her yet. I need to actually finish seducing her before I'll get over her.

I've heard catholic school girls described as "either lots of fun or no fun at all". It seems that a repressed environment will make people eager to release some pressure. I know there's several christian colleges in the area, both have reputations for wild women.

Glasses are damned cute on guys and girls. I can see why people want contacts, but they suck for reducing the amount of people looking cute with glasses.

Yeah. I don't get how they don't get that. They make your eyes look big. They are symbolic of tantalizing vulnerability. Other folks even go around wearing fashion sunglasses to look cool.

How obvious can you get?

I guess those few "nyah nyah, four eyes!" jerks out there just have enough impact to ruin it for everyone.

Hmm. How to phrase it?

I've tapped that Catholic Schoolgirl ass. Don't do it unless you're prepared for the consequences.

Glasses do so often help with looking cute or, in the right cases (with hair up tight, in a no-nonsense office uniform, for instance, the kind that says "I'm your boss."), sexy. But media is still convinced glasses = nerds = ugly. Holy shit, it's basically the Khmer Rouge.

I think it’s a combination of old stereotypes, most of which no longer apply, but that’s beside the point. Gender segregated education, taught by stuffy old nuns, with strong emphasis on virginity and a “no sex until marriage” mentality.

Then again, there is the uniform aspect to it. It’s more than just the “uniform” aspect to the uniform. Most school uniforms are variations on white blouses and skirts (the length of the skirts is based on a constant and never ending battle between school regulations and youthful rebellion … as I said most of the stereotypes no longer apply and perhaps never did). This is, to an extent similar to the cheerleader fetish, although getting a glance up a schoolgirl’s uniform is not as trivial as winding up looking up a cheerleader’s skirt. Moreover, there is the old standard (which was featured in the classic porn movie “Debbie Does Dallas”) of the school girl in uniform who doesn’t wear panties. (Note; this ties in with the fact that most uniform skirts are plaid, which does have illusions to Scottish kilts and a true Scotsman never wears anything under his kilt. Alas I don’t think that is the case for all those ladies who are now in bagpipe marching bands, but they are mostly Irish anyway and I’m digressing.)

WARNING: The following is not safe for work. (Contains partial nudity) This is a photo from a very good (personally that's an understatement, I think a lot of his work deserves to be in MOMA) professional photographer who puts some of this work on Gather. Ironically, this was his latest posting. "something else, just for a little while, just long enough" and if you want feel free to look at his other works. On the G rated side, he has a few wedding photographs posted that are equally fantastic.

I probably need glasses, on the grounds that I can see maybe 30-40 feed and it fads out into a multicolored blur. Genetics got me on that one, both my parents needed glasses in their mid-20's, and I'm about 5 years past that.

I'm also starting to go bald, a fact I discovered after having a haircut for the first time in 5 years.

Whatever. I'm riding both out. Glasses and receding hairlines have happened to better men than me, I can deal.

Alright, question from me:

Why is it that thus far, every woman but one that I've dated have gotten very disappointed when I said that if we were committed to each other, they couldn't jill off with their female friends? I mean, if we aren't committed to each other then my only rule is "If you give me Herpes I will be very upset". But whenever it got to the point where we might be boyfriend/girlfriend, they mentioned that little issue and were not happy when I said I considered that to be cheating. One even said she had sex with women when she was committed with men and they all were cool with it.

Am I the only person that isn't swept up with the whole "girl on girl is HAWT!" craze and considers it cheating regardless?

That is kinda odd, but alot of people now desire more open relationships so they can experiment and share with more than one person.

That you're jealous of mutual masturbation, however, says something odd about you, I think.
