Norda will go first.

Tramping down the stairs, you are met at the entrance to the statue room by an ambush! Reptiloids emerge from either side of the entrance, thrusting with spears at Norda, one of them dealing her a vicious scratch. To the north, Norda sees a door open and a Reptiloid step through, out of the room.

With his allies nearby, Grobnar gets out his masterwork lyre and plays a old song of bravery in order to Inspire Courage among the party.

"Fighting them in this doorway is bad," Vorbar says tensely, clenching his morningstar. "Fall back?"

Grobnar agrees, “Yes, up the stairs we must go.”

Norda will attack and then take a five foot step backwards if the others move back out of the way.

Vorbar will move back off the stairs and into the room at the top (I believe he can move freely through Grobnar and Lodin's squares).

Norda, spirit bolstered by the song of old, hacks the enemy before her in half with a single swing that carries into the next foe, felling that one as well, despite the awkward corner. Norda steps back into the space vacated by Vorbar. The south-positioned reptiloid scampers north across the room, passing through the lantern light, and you hear the sounds of their footsteps receding that way.

Although no enemy is in sight, we are still in combat time. All PCs are in a similar init position for now, so it's you-go-they-go.

Grobnar continues his song and stays where he is.

Vorbar also remains where he is, one square back from the stairs.

Norda waits and sees what the reptiloids do next.

In very little time, the noise of footsteps is lost entirely, and the only sound is stirring song.
We are no longer in combat time.

Grobnar heads down the stairs and checks out the dead bodies for loot.

Vorbar ponders the situation. If Norda moves into the room, he'll follow; if not, he waits until he hears something from Grobnar.

"Grobnar's singing has driven them away"

Norda moves into the room and moves one space north of the entrance.

The statue chamber has an open door in the north wall and a closed door in the south. The bodies yield only a handful of copper coins, besides their equipment, crude short spears and slings. The statue itself is plainly ancient, covered in dust and cobwebs, and although its features are crumbling, it is plainly meant to depict a human wizard, his arms held forward as if to cradle an unseen gift.

Lodin inspects the statue, brushing crud out of a small inscription at the base. "The orb is the key," he reads aloud.

"Orb? Huh. That's assuming this isn't just a setup, of course," Vorbar murmurs before moving north behind Norda.

I've placed Norda in the square where she would have the view she was trying for because fudging that in Roll20 is irritating and it makes no difference.
Norda's darkvision reveals a room full of trash and broken furniture, with a door on the opposite wall. To the north is some sort of garbage heap. Lodin listens at the southern door, but shows no signs of hearing anything.

Grobnar suggests searching the garbage heap, “One creature’s trash is another’s treasure.”

Norda moves east into the room, and then one space south of the entrance if there are no monsters revealed.

Vorbar peers at the garbage heap. "Hm." He inspects it somewhat gingerly.

(Sorry again! I keep thinking I've posted what I'm doing in this.)

Clearly Bargle heard we were coming for him and died of a heart attack.
