I would think it could be something to at least be aware of, even if the time scale is outside the normal PC's reach, if only as an adventure seed. A_Cynic mentioned curses to those who accidentally disturbed such people performing penance, examples including people who moved soo little that natural formations covered them and removed any trace of their existance aside from random digging discovering them.

What about resurrection? it's going to have some real consequences for setting, empire endurance, and actual gameplay. There are quite a few approaches, and it requires thinking through reincarnation a bit more.
