Youtube videos that make us Laugh, Cry, or Both

Post by SphereOfFeetMan »

Since I often find Youtube videos I like to share, I thought I should just start a thread devoted to that end. Add any videos or comments you like. I'll start things off:

regarding the first one:

I'm having trouble thinking of things to add to the list - short of adding my own things, and that would involve knowing what the cost of opium (and various opiate painkillers) costs. I also doubt they'd appreciate various forms of porn being added, though to imagine that everyone on the planet could be supplied with free porn and the (small) television to watch it on is kind of cool. And why did they not choose this option instead of the war on Iraq?

8 cases of 24 crunchie bars (hey, I'm broke, hungry and addicted to sugar - sugar that I'm not getting while broke)
Ice cream maker
Switching the entirety of America to solar power
4 years worth of ending hunger and poverty related diseases
Curing three deadly diseases
Secret island fortress in the Bahamas
2 chocolate fudge pound cakes
Snack basket
PS3 - I hear some good games are getting released for it now
Dark Heresy (why not pay for a legit version if you can find one?)
Twenty 2-pound bags of Jelly Belly jelly beans (3 trillion could give everyone on earth about 60 pounds worth of jelly beans. Again, WHY DID THEY NOT CHOOSE THIS OPTION?)
Universal literacy
Finish repairing Katrina's damage
Ending dependence on foreign oil
Housing for all of America's homeless
Healthcare for every American

And I still have 700 billion dollars left!

Just some videos, no particular reason...

Edit: This one has a reason. And that reason is, I'm old enough to remember the first Transformers. And I laughed my ass off at this.

And Maxus, watch the Optimus at the end of this vid: http://youtube.com/watch?v=akNJ6S2UqsE

Mesmerizing. And probably got the guy stuck a few times.

I never played Starcraft. I was a pretty hardcore Warcraft 3 player though. That said, I'm thinking about getting Starcraft 2 when it comes out, especially since Warcraft 4 probably won't be made for another decade (b/c it would be competing with WoW).

Here are a couple more goodies:

Oh, I'm certainly getting it (since my Broodwars disk exploded half a year ago)
Me and my girlfriend both plan to buy it, $50 and all.
Maybe I can pull her from the life-sucking abyss that WoW has become.

BTW when playing Starcraft (or many realtime wargame) it helps to know the powers and interactions of all units. While I plan to experience all SC2 forces and units, it looks like Zerg will remain my favorite.

I was telling someone about the autopsies in Eternal Darkness, and his reaction was, "That's in a Gamecube game?" And I ended up thinking of Youtube to show him some of the stuff from the game.

The autopsies...well, you play as a doctor and after you kill enemies, you have a chance to examine them. And after his chapter, his notes on each examined enemy are recorded in the journal, and each one is accompanied by an amazingly done voiceover.

Max's Autopsies part 1

Max's Autopsies part 2

The three different versions of the same cutscene, which does a decent job of illustrating the differences between the three Ancients.

I hear very little different between the breakup letter read dramatically and the Eternal Darkness autopsies.

I had never heard of this guy before, and now I know I am better for it.

I find this particularly interesting because this is a good example of how everything on the Internet stays on the Internet, and how competing groups wage wars of information/disinformation. I know little about how wikipedia functions in a technological sense, but just glancing at the revision history suggests a lot.

Just some curious thoughts. What (if any) groups are fighting over this information? Who will win? What is at stake?

It' kinda funny, because Chris Matthews is generally reviled by the Left for being a misogynist.

Another acolyte of Alberto Gonzales. Also a power struggle. It makes me wonder when congress will get the power to force people to answer questions, or face some kind of contempt.

New Olbermann special comment:

Also, a clip from Letterman. I don't watch his show, but I was struck by how blunt he is. Most late night shows try to stay as far away from comments like those as possible.
