CBO releases analysis of AHCA, predicting increasing premiums over the next few years, before a decrease (mostly for the young and rich. Costs likely go up for old and poor), and large expected loss of insured over the next decade. Trump does not accept numbers, but tries to lower people's expectations of premium drops. Conservatives still split on support.

Senate looking to increase coverage for poor under AHCA, which is likely to further anger conservatives, and cause split in Senate GOP

Meanwhile, the AHCA has 24% approval, compared to 49% for the ACA.

Please don't fall for the lies.

Increasing those covered without allocating more money means Medicaid amounts run out faster. This just means that the even poorer poor get fucked harder, and the slightly less poor poor get slightly less fucked.

So, Anti-Islamic protestors and Muslim counter-protesters are both attacked by radical Communists and unite against common enemies.

That... isn't quite what happened.

Anti-Islamic protestors showed up outside a mosque. Members of the mosque counter protested. Then a bunch of Anti-fa showed up, and insulted the Anti-Islamic protestors, not the muslims. The Muslims said "Hey, the fascists have a right to free speech, cool it." The Anti-fa continued to protest the fascists, and the original two groups said to each other "You wanna get lunch?"

The AHCA vote has been 'postponed' again, and is basically defunct at this point. Ordinarily, I'd say that would be the end of Ryan's Speakership, but does anyone else even want the job now?

I've seen commentary that this failure of leadership may fatally wound Tangerine Mussolini's entire agenda. I'm not sure it needed the help, but grumpycat.jpg anyway.

I mean, it's not good for Trump and co. but I kind of assumed they'll just keep at it until they are able to pass their punitive health care bill of some sort. There's billions and trillions in tax-breaks to be had for the top percentile, and that must happen or they will have failed as a party. Plus that whole "Repeal and Replace" mantra they've been chanting since 2011.

Ryan originally didn't want it for this reason, either.

These are the same people who didn't bat an eye at the Secretary of Education babbling that guns should be allowed in school in case of bears.

I'm also not surprised that they're framing this as a 'states rights' argument. Fucks sake.

I really like the juxtaposition of sustainability and killing cubs. That buzzword has lost all meaning, hasn't it?

In somewhat good news, the governor of my state resigned after a long period of trying to brazen it out after getting caught having an affair. And got booked.

So there's that, at least.

We've had this conversation before. The elephants have no problem with a big nosy fed when it comes to telling the fifty states they have to sell guns and arrest Planned Parenthood patients.

Alaskans drink a lot and live in a state plunged in near total darkness 3 months out of the year.

And State's Rights means the rights of petty state government officials.

You're both wrong. If a bear shows up in school, you let the kids wrestle it.

To be replaced by Tucker Carlson. The diet coke of lying shitweasels.

Good riddance to one source of outright lies, even if they have more meat puppets. But happily Tucker is unlikely to accumulate the same horde of disturbed old people who want to be fed paranoid shit.

Fake Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch took his first official action today.

It was tell to people to go die because they are black and blackies deserve to die.

How very... emblematic of what he will mean for the court.

I disagree. Those people will gladly hurl their money and adoration at anyone willing to tell them that they're right and empirical reality is wrong.

So apparently, the reason the person needed to die now, before DNA evidence was tested to see if he was innocent, was the state's sedative drugs were going to expire.

But on top of that! They had to drive out and accept a "donation" of the drug used to actually kill him, because there was no legal access, so they just got it illegally and received a donation from an undisclosed individual to avoid evidence of illegal obtainment.

THIS IS THE GORSUCH WE NOW HAVE. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HE ALWAYS WAS GOING TO BE.
